The Dark Knight Is Cleaning Up

Basically, "The Dark Knight" has already made a shit load of cash. The bitches at Warner Bros. are having a money party this weekend, where they will swim in pools of money, drink money martinis and wipe their asses with $100 bills.

It made $18.5 million on midnight screenings alone, breaking the midnight record set by Star Wars, Episode III, which made $16.9. George Lucas is a loser!

In total, it made around $63 million on Friday. It will probably make around ten billion dollars by the end of the weekend. "Batman Begins" made $48.7 million in its first weekend.

This is the thing, I really want to see TDK. I do. But a big movie means big crowds, which means BIG morons. Especially in this fucking heat. Heat makes morons even more moronic. And I have a fat mouth, so sometimes the word "cunt" just seems to creep out when I'm really annoyed. Before I know it, I'd have ten frat boys on my ass ( and not in a hot way). I don't need to spend the rest of my weekend in a hospital bed or jail cell. Nu uh.

I think I'll go see "Mamma Mia" instead. I hear it's fucking torture, but I'll bring Jack and ask the concession bitch to only fill my Coke halfway. You know, for my medicine.

so fucking amazing. The movie was packed but everybody was so cool..no assholes talking or yelling out stupid sheet at the screen. One kid started to and about 8 people around told him to STFU..very nice!!

Movie was phenomenal..I won't go into details but Heath Ledger made that movie...without him it would have been good, but not great. As thed Joker I wish Heath had been in every scene. Because he's an actor...he doesn't just bring himself to the screen, he brings the character he's playing. There was minimal makeup effects to create The Joker, the rest was Heath Ledger's talents.

My fav scene...The Joker as a Nurse..I won't say more than that. See it now!

The best part was my friends who I went with told me that Andy Dick had been kicked out of their uncles birthday party for licking people's faces..later that night (or morning) he was arrested for groping a 17 year old...lol....

In all seriousness, I cannot stop gushing about The Dark Knight. I went to a very large theater (completely packed) and the movie was so captivating you could of heard a pin drop. No moronic activity at all. Even the kiddies were quiet. I feel like a complete nerd because I'm going to go see it again on IMAX!

DR.FUNK's picture

The last time I even bothered to walk into a movie theater...the calender had a "19_ _" in front of it.All those years of living regularly in LA...and running into douchebags like the one in the posted picture...not to mention the actual industry douches...contributed to my contempt for the medium.
I am however-as a businessman-happy to see the risk takers rewarded.

I must be a serious ho because the Joker look is making me tingly. Something about that shit is sexay.

rotfl! I have to say, I agree with you on that but if I asked my S.O. to dress up like that he'd probably have me committed. ;p

I LOVE LOVE LOVED The Joker!!!! Heath was AWESOME. And no, it's not because he passed away. I was with my daughter when we saw TDK previews during I Am Legend. (The previews were better than the movie). We were both shocked, saying we didn't know Heath Ledger could be like that ... we were amazed just from the clip alone. "COME ON ... HIT ME!!!!!" Holy FUCK!!!

Btw, is it just us or were we the only ones not really interested in the story and just wanted to see more of the Joker????

That scene where the Joker walks out of the hospital = priceless.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a lucite heel about this movie?

Me either. I don't do "blockbusters" (much less "summer blockbusters").

Yeah, I'm a movie snob, but don't worry, I'm also a book snob, food snob, and family snob. I'm not all bad though, as I'm not a clothing or money snob.

Its not even a option for me not to see this... My bf has been talking about this movie from early production stages... Overkill.
However, i am excited to see the fuss over Heath's performance, an any movie that involves Bale in skintight rubber is a must see for me.

No, hunny - I don't either. I have a weird aversion to anything that EVERYONE must run out and see immediately. Plus the Batman movies are PRETTY good but, honestly, I think we've been selling outselves short on a lot of things for a long time. Movies like Batman just make me remember the 1st Star Wars or Space Odyssey but with less depth.

PS. Thorny - you have a heart of stone, I tellya - Mama Mia will save the world! I just know it! Ok - no I don't, I'm just an enormous ABBA fan who rallies against the death cry of "musicals" in general.

I'm living in North Carolina right now... Normally the streets are fucking EMPTY on Sunday mornings 'cause all the churchies are getting right with God.... so I'm hoping the 10:00am showing tomorrow will be a safe bet.... also going to the smallest of the Raleigh malls to see it.... We'll see.

No only the best Batman movie yet! best movie of the summer, period.

Hands down, legs spread, a must see for the weekend. CAN'T wait for an unrated DVD version, I wantee!

Morgan Freedman is the reason I will watch Wanted. I hope he gets a lifetime Achivement Award. He was good when he was Easy Reader, hope I have the name right, old.

LMAO! Michael K., I sometimes slip the word "Cunt" into many a conversation and when someone asks I just say, "What?". Works every time!

I really want to see this movie too but I definitely don't want to be crowded by a bunch of cunts talking shit with their curry breath when I'm trying to enjoy my popcorn, diet death soda and candy during a stellar movie. I'll wait it out until the surge dies down tyvm.

That's what is keeping me away, too. I'll wait a week. This movie will be at the local theater for a month easy.

And unfortunately, the nearest indoor theater has had too many incidents of muggings in the parking lot, gang activity, and actual mayhem IN the theater while the goddamn movie is playing.

We have a drive-in nearby, but at 8:45PM it was still 80 degrees. Eff that.

@I have heard that TDK is a good movie and that Heath (RIP) is Excellent as the Joker. But I will wait until the crowd the size of Mama Mia on a Monday afternoon matinée is present...

Morgan Freeman is one of those rare actors that can encompass any role. He's one of the best of his era and the roles he does now are a good mix of indie and box office. He classes any movie up.

And now he gets paid the money he deserved years ago.

I saw the movie last night -- good film, but yeah, the crowd was really annoying. This one bitch who wasn't even 1/3 cute enough to pull it off tried to put her fucking loser friend on speakerphone during the movie so that he or she could "hear the film", which wouldn't have been annoying until the person on the other end of the line started talking loudly and incessantly. This other dude thought that he'd impress his date by telling the person about all the various minutiae about the Batman franchise and character, to the point where it was hard to focus on the movie.

I wish some people would just wait for a movie to come out on DVD if all they plan to do is talk through it.

MK your not doing it right spending money on Coke at the movies. You need a purse to put all kinds of drinks and shit in. I can take a KFC value meal with no problem.

Sometimes you get nasty looks when your taking out your KFC smelling up the whole place but fuck them if their not smart enough to bring in the good food!

It was really good, by the way. Heath Ledger was excellent as The Joker (and NO, it's not because he is dead it's because he was DAMN GOOD)
