Stock Broker,
I don't think the twins did another movie after the Shining either.
YMAtT,
Ugh, the TV version of The Shining BLEW monkey balls!

Yes, it really did! Stephen King's a great horror novelist, but when it comes to adapting to television he should just step aside and let the filmmakers do their thing because it usually ends up being a disaster, otherwise. SK hates the original Kubrick version, though, because Kubrick changed a lot of things around. I, on the other hand, although being a huge SK fan, think Kubrick did an amazing job because the film scared the shit out of me. I thought it followed the plot enough.
I still can't watch the room 237 scene alone, and I'm 30!

Stockbroker--yes, I know. I was just wondering if Migraineuse was referring to the boy from the original film or from the TV movie because the boy from the TV movie was the one with the chipmunk cheeks and teeth.

Everyone always forgets Michelle Kwan
"When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep - not screaming, like the passengers in his car. "
I was referring to "Danny" from the original movie...

PS: The kid who played Danny in the movie gradudated from Eastern Illinois University with a Masters Degree in Science and is now a teacher.

Migraineuse, do you mean the little boy who played Danny in the TV version of The Shining? Because he really was annoying. The little boy who played Danny in Kubrick's film was brilliant, I thought.

Ahh, The Shining--my favorite movie ever made, and it's been my favorite since I was eight years old.
"Wendy, darling, light of my life, you didn't let me finish my sentence. I said I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just gonna bash your brains in. I'm gonna bash 'em right the fuck in!"
I know the whole GD script by heart. Happy birthday, Shelly Duvall--you were a familiar staple in my childhood memories.
3 Women was a good film, as well, albiet strange...but I like odd films, obviously (see my avvie). Shelly's character was a bit irritating, though.

Jack Nicholson and Scatman Crothers were the best in The Shining, Shelly Duval was alright, so HB to her too.

CREE SUMMER!!! What happened to her! Can she be a HSotD???? PLEEEEEASE!

I love Cree Summer's voice!
She does a TON of voice over work for television shows and commercials!
Cree is the voice of 'Foxy Love' on Comedy Central's 'Drawn Together'.

I heart Shelley Duvall. She looks a bit like my mom.

Shelly was great in "Nashville", she was the california girl, not a big role but she played it well. I loved The Shinning, BUT she had some of the funniest movements ever, especially her chicken run, like bitch your sooo going to get stabbed, and I am gonna laugh through that shit.

"Don't eat the whole ones! Those are for the guests." That was Millie Lammoreaux (Shelley Duval) giving insructions to Pinky Rose (Sissy Spacek) in Altman's 3 Women. Now THAT was acting :-)
Happy Birthday Shelley...and go ahead, eat all the hors d'ouevres you desire, even the whole ones.
Happy Birthday Ringo.
A much better movie, in which Shelly plays quite possibly the most annoying character in movie history, Robert Altman's 3 Women.
Happy birthday, Ringo!

Actually - and I will try not to be harsh because I'm talking to a D-Lister - I hated her acting in everything BUT the Shining. She does ALMOST redeem herself in Faerie Tale Theatre, but just almost. I like her fine as a person, I guess...it's just...her acting.

Nah, I won't judge poor Shelley on the one awful role of her career. Happy Birthday! :)

Great flick!!

Hey, it's Olive Oyl.
Oh my! That picture of Ms. Duvall is SO scary! LOL! Anywho, I only remember her from "Faerie Tale Theatre" in the 80's/early 90's! She's great! Happy Birthday to all!

Shelley quit acting, not sure why.

I thought I'd hate the Shining because of her but there were some serious ass directing skills behind that film.

Even as blood and bone
I can't tolerate
A still heart
And I can't stand being alone.

RE: "The Shining" - Though not one of King's better novels, I liked it much more than the movie (although the scene pictured above is one of the best parts). Fans of hidden meanings will like this essay about Kubrick's "Shining":
