Love the Puppy! Why do celebrities need credit for money they donate to charities. When the rest of us donate, do we get public recognition for it? I think not! If I were to go around telling people I donated to so and so cause they'll just be like, "What do you want? a medal or something?" Johnny Depp reads to kids in the hospital, The New York Rangers Hockey team also visits sick kids in the hospital. It's just something they do, they don't need people to fawn over them for it! I think the only reason we may have found out about Depp reading to the sick kids, is because the kids families may have said something publically, thanking him or something. I don't know. but I wish more famouse people could just Follow Depp's example.

I think a lot of celebs dont' adopt here because one, its a hell of a lot harder to adopt in the US, two, many would not pass the exams for US adoptions ::cough AJ cough::: and three: many don't want to deal with parents coming out of the woodwork, and four, they don't want to wait 2 years for their new accessory. If you adopt a kid from Vietnam, chances are you'll never have to deal with their families. I think a lot of celebs donate to US causes, just not everyone throws a parade for it. We give to both domestic and international causes as well as whenever crisis hits, wether its Burma, New Orleans, or whereever.

Yes it was my grandson, they relieved some pressure and when he gets stronger they will go through his side and cage the exposed spinal cord. He got his infection in the hospital and they sent him home, his parents are middle class and on the heavy side so the state tried to get them for "failure to thrive" precious time passed, they seen their "error" and he lost 3 vertabrae, he will be operated on the rest of his growing life with the possibility of paraylsis from the neck down. These "middle class"people will soon be rich, I rather have a healthy grandchild. Ignorance is high in the good old USA. Thanks for asking.

I know that we have it good here in the US. I know we have it a lot better than a lot of other countries. I'm just tired of US citizens lining the pockets of Hollywood celebrities with money and then they either A)go live in another country and pump money into their economy B)donate all of their tax deductions to charities in other countries or C)adopt children from other countries when we have a ton of children in foster care that need good homes too.
I thank my lucky stars daily that I have a nice home, a healthy child and food in my stomach. But this country does need a lot of help too.

I never said she can't speak her mind. However, her picture of dire gloom and depression era America isn't accurate. And I sure as hell stand behind what I said. 80% of the world will KILL to be in her shoes. The vast majority of the US does live beyond their means, and when the ARM on tehir morgage went up, they could no longer afford the 5 bedroom 3000 sq foot home in City Park. I don't feel sorry for people that were irresponsible with their money, and now are getting bit in the ass. I DO feel sorry for the rising rental rates, rising gas costs, and rising food costs that impact people struggling to get by.

the reason why many choose to donate to countries outside the US is because, the US has the resources to recover. People in the US have insurance and other organizations that can help, inc. the government. Many will rely on the federal government, but, the government does have the resources to rebuild, and shelter people until the rebuild is done. Many countries do not have the means to do this. In Russia, the ave monthly income is less than 60US per month. Many make below 30 USD per month. Now, if a Katrina type disaster hit Russia, those people are totally fucked, and the government can't begin to help rebuild or aid them in any way. That's the difference.

And, for the record, over 60 nations donated millions to the Katrina effort.
