Off The Wall

I don't watch "The Two Coreys" because my weekly douche intake is already at its maximum level, but several of you whores wrote me on what went down on last night's season premiere. Well, during last night's episode, Corey Haim admitted to being raped at the age of 14. Corey Feldman also confessed he was child touched around that age. They didn't say by whom, but it was one of Corey Feldman's close friends. Escandalo!

I'm guessing the accused child toucher's name rhymes with HACKO?

OMG! Why do I love this show so much? I guess I can relate. I have a friend I probably need to sit down and hash things out with. Even when you go your separate ways deep down you still have love for each other no matter how pissed you are. I know I'm that way. I never could hold a grudge. The show is like crack to me.

PS. I do think the person Haim in referring to is Michael Jackson because Feldman looked positively horrified at the mention of it.

Castration reduces the overall aggression level some, but it does not remove the need to control and to hurt. Someone who is fixated on raping another person will do it with an object if they can't penetrate directly.

Personally I think forgiveness is forced down our throats nowadays and that makes it all bullshit. Like you're expected to forgive so you can move on and nobody else has to listen to your shit any more. It's more about everybody else and their own convenience than it is about you. They want you to hurry up and get over it so they don't have to waste any more compassion on you.

I also think that it's possible to find peace without playing hypocrite and having to pretend to be nobler than one really is. I'm sick of all the pressure put on suffering people to hurry up and find their closure so the rest of us don't have to be burdened with their pain.

child molesters SHOULD be killed. Hoesnt to God, as soon as adult touches a child like that they should demonthed from being human beings to sick, twisted, evil monsters and killed.

Some have been castrated, it was actually the idea of a convicted child molester, he suggested they castrate him. I've heard it actually has helped stop them from doing it again. We should castrate sex offenders and labodomize all sociopaths!

My heart goes out to all the children who have ever been molested or raped. It seems there are SO MANY. Does anyone think that awareness might be making a difference?

Based on stories like this, and shows like "Intervention", I am starting to think that most hardcore addictions seem to happen to people who have been molested or raped. I personally think there's a strong correlation.

The belief behind forgiveness psychologically is that once you can forgive you can let go of the pain, if you never try to forgive you'll always have this intense hatred towards that individual and will always prevent you from letting go. Women are taken to jail soetimes to see the man who raped them and have an interview with them so they can tell that person how it felt for them, like a cleansing of sorts.

Thank you for being brave enough to post that. Childhood abuse is something one learns to live with, and overcome, but it doesn't just go away. There are far-reaching tentacles that while seemingly have no direct connection to that abuse, are directly tied to the behavioral, physical, and emotional damage from the abuse. I think you and your husband are very lucky to have found each other, and help each other. You are right, as survivors, you understand each other in ways other people cannot. Now I'm doubly glad you have each other. :)

I said it is worse for a male in the point of view of society and how many men do not come forward with their story, in terms of population. More women are inclined to seek help, then men, and I am not talking about a small percentage either the difference is vast. Never did I mention the individual because some men of course do seek help, and some women will never seek help, that is an individual basis. Its been proven that more women will seek help then men, any medical survery, records, what have you will show this so its not "talking out of my ass". And lifetime is a product of our environment, maybe sometime in the future when male rape is more up front about it there will be the male equivalent of lifetime to provide for that community. Not to forget your the genius who said "At least we don't execute those that come forward to say they were raped? If so, then you are correct. Bravo for us, for not adding unjust murder to the abuse inflicted." Yeah OF COURSE its a big deal dumbass

DreamyAguileraEyes, thankyou for your kind words. I just want all children to live happy, healthy lives. Children who are being hurt need to know that fighting back legally, EVEN if you are all alone, EVEN if you are ashamed, EVEN if your family is blind, EVEN if you don't see what good it will do, is going to help you 10, 20 30 years down the road. The more people accept this, the more children will see it is possible to take the drivers seat to sanity.

Have a good day Dlisted!

In an interview for the July issue of GQ, Feldman reveals all:

People can say whatever they want, but it wasn't Michael. He and I have our own issues, but that wasn't one of them. The bottom line is, I know who it was. I didn't know how to cut him off. Not only did I continue being friends with the guy, but he was working for me. The guy that did this to me was my assistant. He would come in when I was sleeping. I would wake up and I would know what was going on, but I would just try to ignore it and hope that he would go away, which is how kids who aren't ready to deal with something deal with it. I was still a virgin at the time. I hadn't even had sex with a girl. So for me it was just kind of bewildering. Despite what people think, I was actually very innocent and very naïve at the time. I was your typical American kid.

I wanted to watch this show but this is just a huge flatliner of a topic for me. I also wanted to show my husband "License to Drive" since he's never seen it. (I still don't get how you could have grown up in the 80's and haven't seen this movie!) - It's not "Killer Klowns From Outer Space " in it's awesome 80's obscureness.

But on a serious note, I have to give my POV on the whole male vs. female molestation topic. I think your family/support system has a lot to do with whether or not children come forward with abuse. I acknowledge that traditionally, socially in our culture men are not real men if they feel and express emotion. It would most likely be more difficult for males to come forward before females Thankfully, the idea that males shouldn't have feelings is finally starting to change. it seems that more people realize we are all human beings and have emotions that should be allowed to exist. But there are also many people victimized (in the past and present) who feel they cannot talk about their molestation with anyone, being they male or female. Depending on how their parents raised them or what adults who care about them have told them growing up, many people keep their abuse private for a long time. It's not so simple as male vs. female victims. This is all just very sad to me.

If you'll let me, I would like to suggest the novel "Deerskin" its a fairy tale for adults, in which the female protaganist is raped by her father, and her recovery there after. There are stages of recovery and the story development is built on that, the last I believe is forgiveness, which of course is the hardest.

the coreys were in all the teen mags in the 80s. maybe they were only famous in north america.

corey feldman has been known for being all sorts of screwed up for years. so I would believe almost any horror story for him. corey haim I think did the same thing on a quieter level.

but you are right. they have been clinging onto their fifteen minutes for a long time. maybe they feel they are owed fame due to bad things they went through.

I agree. child molesters cause so much misery. I have been told by a guard at a max security state prison that if they put child molesters in with the rapists and murderers they will be killed. he was in favor but said it wasn't allowed (to be done on purpose).

I never assumed that you meant ALL men who are raped are by strangers, I was just making an example of someone like Tyler Perry whom has come out and said his own father raped him. Also I dont understand where the attitude is coming from because I have been talking about this topic in general terms as I thought we all were. Lifetime may be a stupid channel but it does provide an outlet for these type of topics which would never go into production in mainstream channels, and offers something for a person out there whom may not want to or cannot get real info on the topic. Maybe there young, or in the middle of nowehere, but at least they know there not the only one or else it wouldnt be on tv. In this case something, lifetime, is better than nothing.

It is discussed in a mostly matter of fact way, but in the context of the boogeyman that you can't take candy from, or get in the car with. Mom and Dad don't sit you down and say, as . gave us the example, "if your brother does this, it's wrong, or if Mrs. Nicelady next door you've known since you were born touches you, it's wrong."

I did not state that ALL males are abused by strangers, or that they are exempt from abuse by family members. Another erroneous assumption on your part.

Maybe you need to step away from the TV altogether and plug into real life.

Thank you for saying that. THAT is how the true abuse/molestation unfolds, and is dealt with. Where somebody gets off saying it's worse for one than it is for another, I cannot comprehend. Your husband is the perfect example of an abused human being, regardless of gender. It FEELS the same to the person who was abused. I'm sorry he had to endure that, and has to endure it still. I'm glad he has you, a compassionate and understanding partner to help him. It SUCKS beyond the telling that his abuser is so lauded by the family. That has to grind salt into your hubby's wounds, making it that much more difficult for him. Rather than being "rewarded" with the college degree, and being a lawyer now, his piece of shit brother should be under the jail, searching for his own bottom-feeder to defend his sorry ass. But, that's the difference between a Lifetime movie and real life. It's not that simple, it's not that easy, and it rarely works out the way it should. Who the fuck even watches Lifetime, anyway? (besides Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty)

Really? That I did not know, I really was under the impression most parents especially in todays society, taught girls about inappriopriate touching, I know I was, and I've chatted about it in classes before and have heard other girls say the same. Families are different, like mine would never ever talk about sex in the sense of pleasure, but we would if its just about sex as a matter of fact topic. I regret mentioning lifetime now, my education on female sexuality education DOES NOT come from Lifetime, nor do I watch it, but if you ever watch their titles "Woman trapped" "a fathers touch" " the school teacher that got to close" you dont need to watch it to know whats going to go down. Also, male rape does not happen always by strangers, Tyler Perry, was raped by his father the day after his mom died.

NYAPPLES did you ever see the Prince Of Tides? Did it bother you? Was it hard to watch? Maybe since you see that there is a lack of worthy stories out there about this subject, you should write some! It takes people who are willing to step forward and put it out there. Men are "urged" to block pain. Many women do too. I would guess that 70% or more who were abused never take legal action. But I can tell you that legal action is the best thing you can do for yourself. I took legal action when I was 15. At 34, I am a pretty healthy adult. My high school boyfriend never took legal action, he was abused by his uncle as a child. He has been in and out of drug rehab programs. Bottom line, if you want to help yourself in the long run, tell someone AS SOON AS IT HAPPENDS. Thats my message to the kids out there. Both boys and girls.

I agree, but I meant the topic of male rape in regards to how society treats the individual. Not the process of healing of the female or male in an individual basis. I have traveled alot and have spent time in some sexist countries, there female rape is accepted as a part of life, male rape doesnt even exist - that is the societal mentality of not just certain places but usually all places where women are second class citizens -which is a huge portion of the world. There was recently a case of a 15yo french boy raped in Dubai that made a big splash internationaly, and although male rape happens often, like the slaves in the Sudan, its hushed up and put aside even by the victims mothers or the government chooses not to even acknowledge it happened where as they would had the victim been female. Back to the French boy I mentioned, had he been from Dubai he probably would have been killed for even mentioning he was raped by a man, but because it was a question of international affairs Dubai couldnt go down that route. Emotions aside, women also have it worse because they can get pregnant and should they have it and keep it, its hard to look at your child and forget where he/she came from.

"The Prince of Tides" is an excellent book and movie on how male and female rape can effect the victim many years later.

lol lifetime doesnt help with shit. But what I am saying, is there is an openness to discussion about female rape. Very rarely do fathers sit down with their sons and ask "has a man ever tried to touch you?",
=====================================
You're very mistaken regarding the openness of discussion. Neither my father nor my mother ever sat me down and said the above to me, and I don't know of any parents who have or do. If there was such openness about girls who have been raped, then there wouldn't still be so very many rapes that go unreported every single day. I think you may be confusing how drama unfolds on the Lifetime channel with how real life works.
