Cage Fight!
Grab the oil, bikini thongs and Ben Gay! Clint Eastwood and Spike Lee are about to cage fight. Spike Lee recently criticized Clint for not including one African-American soldier in two of his war movies, "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters From Iwa Gima."
While promoting his own war film, "Miracle St. Anna," Spike told reporters, "Clint Eastwood made two films about Iwo Jima that ran for more than four hours total, and there was not one Negro actor on the screen. If you reporters had any balls you'd ask him why. There's no way I know why he did that ... But I know it was pointed out to him and that he could have changed it. It's not like he didn't know."
And what did Clint's hot pepaw ass have to say about this? "The story is Flags of Our Fathers, the famous flag-raising picture, and they didn't do that. If I go ahead and put an African-American actor in there, people'd go: 'This guy's lost his mind.' I mean, it's not accurate. A guy like him should shut his face." SHUT HIS FACE?! Hurry, get the cage! The fight is upon us.
Clint went on to tell the Guardian, "I'm playing it the way I read it historically, and that's the way it is. When I do a movie and it's 90% black, like Bird, then I use 90% black people. He was complaining when I did Bird. Why would a white guy be doing that? I was the only guy who made it, that's why. He could have gone ahead and made it. Instead he was making something else."
Damn! Clint sounds mad. I can almost hear his dentures chattering in anger. Once again, the only way to settle this is with a oil cage fight. It's the only way! My dollars are on Clint. He's one feisty pepaw.

Despite all the advances the U.S makes in many areas and despite it being ONE country EVERYONE from EVERY racial background yearns to live and succeed in, the fact someone is different is something many people CANNOT seem to handle at all! But a united country isn't what the various governments want. Division is a tool used by those who seek to gain from it. Now people ACTIVELY LOOK for differences to discriminate against their fellow brother. If it isn't colour(the most obvious) it's culture, then class, then appearance... it's like being back at school.
When you take a moment to know someone, this is when you find out how similar you are to your fellow man. For the guys, we all pretty much want the same basic, privative things. From the most sophisticated all the way to his polar opposite brethren, you'll see all they want to do is EAT and, pardon my blunt language) to FUCK! All the cacka in between is fairly unimportant and only given relevance by society. If all men were honest, you'd see them all unanimously agree on the basics.
All the shyte being pumped out by Folliewood, media, religion... this is simply the words of man trying to trick a bitch, so to speak. Without confusion and distraction, people will really see what's going on in the world... and they wouldn't want that would they?
Anyway, regarding this article, and educated guess would be that Spike was referring to the film as a whole, as many men of colour gave their lives to defend the U.S. Clint seems to be talking about the actual flag raising part which clearly didn't involve anyone else.
So, with all this groundbreaking confusion, these two old timers should probably wrestle it out and have some sort of beverage to seal the deal. The thongs however.. they NEED to stay in their respective cupboards!!

I like them both (*LOVED* Crooklyn, that imo is Spike Lee's best movie). Clint I think has a point, he was trying to be historically accurate. I don't think Clint needs to prove his bona fides, the man's no racist. Spike sadly sees pretty much everything through the prism of racism.

I think Spike Lee has been misquoted... He said that there were African Americans in the regiments the films are about and he wanted to know why not one black man was portrayed. I think that's an honest beef. No one is calling Eastwood a racist, simply calling him to task on an artistic choice that was made. That's the nature of the beast when you pick the arts. People are allowed to be called out on their choices. Lee had to answer many a critic, Eastwood's turn now.

There will always be someone complaining somewhere, If they place an african american actor in a movie even if it isn't accurate people will say "oh they only threw in a token minority" but if they don't place one in a movie then we hear " oh there are no minorities" you can't win so why even try.
