R.I.P. Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Saint Laurent died today in Paris at the age of 71. His close friend, Pierre Berge, confirmed his passing and would only say he died this evening after a long illness. He did not give any other details.
Yves retired from haute couture in 2002.
Sad.

I read on AP he died from brain cancer... so freaking depressing... He wasn't even old yet. I hope he didn't suffer too much.. :-(

He was a wonderful designer, and a supremely talented tailor, and there aren't many of those left. Unlike the majority of the gay designers, this man designed for women and not 12 year old boys or stick figures. He will be missed.
i'm so sad about this. sure, he couldn't have lived forever. but the man was a fashion legend. so immensely talented. he will be tryuly missed :*(

A friend of mine found a pair of pants at a used clothing store from back in Disco Days, that he wears out to clubs. They are so fucking cool and they are YSL Rive Gauche label. These pants are like 25 years old and so well-made that they look brand new----they have like 20 pleats across the front and are baggy in the thigh and then taper down to a tighter ankle. I wish I had a pair. Whenever he wears them, I swear at least 3 or 4 people say, "Dude---those pants are so cool. Where you get them?"
It seems like all the real talent in entertainment and fashion are dying and leaving us with H&M clothing and Brittany Spears. I don't want any of that shit.....I think I am living in the wrong generation. RIP Yves.

He was the best.... at his best, there will be no other. He gave women the power of style. Too young..too young. Something was wrong healthwise for a while. He retired young too.... I wonder what was wrong. Sad.

I have a fabulous pair of a Couture satin YSL slingbacks that my mom gave me for Xmas back in 1990. I have never worn them because they are soooooo pretty and special. They just sit in my closet looking pretty. RIP Yves, you were a great designer!

Oh my goodness! I love this brand. I bought my first piece of jewelery for myself when I turned 21; it was a gold/diamond YSL watch. I still have it and it is still in tip top condition...I'm now almost 31!!
