Yeah, I know. There did seem to be alot of baby making right away in their relationship though, years before they even got married. I would say that, particularly considering the age difference and amout of time he was married to his first wife, that their relationship was almost doomed to fail, IMO.

It's a shame that six kids now have to be exposed to all this nastiness.

For some people emotional and physical pain is normal. That is no reason to hate them.

Never said I hate them. I grew up in a situation that was very emotionally abusive and I almost continued a relationship with a man that was eerily similar to the relationship my parents had. But I was smart enough to know that I had an obligation not to bring children in the relationship...and luckily I had enough sense to walk away and find a good guy as a husband.
I do blame the wife for bringing children into a disgusting situation. I don't care how screwed up you are, you just don't do that.

Most women who put up with abuse have massive crazy issues themselves and who has the energy to deal with that? At the shelter I volunteer at, I see tons of women turning their lives around and getting OUT of their abusive situations. Leaving a life behind and starting over is totally disrupting to say the least. It is no easy task, believe me, but they are some really strong women. THEY deserve respect. And none of the women I have met wanted any kind of sympathy, they just wanted to move on & get healthy. I have never had a man put his hands on me and if that ever happened, I'd kick the living SHIT out of him. If there were anything left of him then my dad & brothers would finish the job. LOL I guess I'm just lucky to have family support. I know some people don't have family to count on but nowadays there are so many places to go to for help that there is really no excuse to not get the eff out. Especially if you have kids, then you need to get tough and do it at least for their sakes. That's why my opinion of most battered women(who stay) is really low. If they are willing to let their kids go through that shit, then they are being abusive to their kids by staying and I don't have any sympathy for someone like that. I feel that their staying is simply more convenient. I would face a firing range, a burning building, twenty abusive men, ANYTHING for my kids. I just cannot understand why any other mother wouldn't do the same. Guess I'm a hateful bitch but oh well, I have been called worse. I can live with that.

Some divorces are messy and can take years.

Of course, me being me, I'm researching....

I knew Bill had grown children with his first wife. They are 26 and 23. Ten years ago he married this woman, who is 16 years younger than him. Their first kid was born in 1993, which is before his divorce from his first wife was final in 1994 and years before he marries this current wife in 1997. Three of their four kids were born before they even got married. Their last one was born in 2001.

I also wonder if this newer wife was the reason he broke up with his first wife, considering his youngest with this one was born in 1993 and he wasn't divorced until 1994, then other kids in 1995, 1996 and 2001.

Seems like things were pretty 'unconventional' before they even got married.

Maybe her daddy gave her mama smackdowns and although on an intellectual level she knows it is wrong, on an emotional level it feels "normal," and is within her comfort zone.

It is sooooooo easy to judge her, and I think it is wrong to do so.

I had a boyfriend once who hit me in the face cuz he thought it was sexy and exciting. I told him if her EVER touched me again like that I would kill him. He never did it again, but I DID put up with all kinds of emotional torture which, because of my dysfunctional family of origin, felt "normal" and "comfortable" to me, albeit painful.

I do not understand why a woman would stay in a situation like this, and it certainly is frustrating to think that she would put up with it for so many years (if it is fact true), however, these patterns of behavior (abuser/abused) are pathological and the anger and hostility towards her is misplaced, IMHO.

I agree with you Stoney. Every person I know who has been in an abusive relationship will first say they didn't see it coming, that the person changed...but when you start digging deeper, they'll admit they did see some personality traits of a potential abuser from the get go. I don't believe people completely change.

Unfortunately, some women thrive only around a bad guy, hoping they'll change him and then they bring children in the situation and are shocked when the guy is really a complete creep.

some comedians have darks side yes, but my dad is fucking hilarious and never once raised his finger to my mom unless it was to pretend he was going to pick her nose while she was driving.

I dont know if i believe wifey yet, but i do know a woman who had a perfect husbad and after the third baby he turned to booze to deal with stress and depression and ended up being abusive.

Comedians always seem to have some sort of darkness about them. I just love Bill and have since his SNL days, but I always thought he as sort of 'off' in a way. I'm not saying that these allegations are true, and I can get in all sorts of arguments about why she would stick around or not. I do get put off by people who bring up all sorts of such allegations once they file for divorce though and seem to want more money somehow if they allege something really bad.

As Judge Judy would say "you picked em'". I can't help but think there were some signs of a person having something wrong with them from fairly early on in a relationship and before you marry and have kids. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
