R.I.P. Dick Martin
Dick Martin, who co-created and co-starred in "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In," died yesterday of respiratory complications in Santa Monica, CA. He was 86.
Dick's rep said he was surrounded by his family and friends.
Laugh-In, which debuted in January 1968, was unlike any comedy-variety show before it.
Rather than relying on a series of tightly scripted song-and-dance segments, it offered up a steady, almost stream-of-consciousness run of non-sequitur jokes, political satire and madhouse antics from a cast of talented young actors and comedians that also included Lily Tomlin, Goldie Hawn, Ruth Buzzi, Arte Johnson, Henry Gibson, Jo Anne Worley and announcer Gary Owens.
Presiding over it all were Rowan and Martin, the veteran nightclub comics whose standup banter put their own distinct spin on the show.
Say Goodnight, Dick. Goodnight, Dick.

Agreed! Joanne Worley is my hero.
Laugh In made me a very cool toddler.
Good night, Dick.
I love Joanne Worley. I think she was the stand out female even though Goldie and Lily went on to bigger things. Ruth Buzzi was good too.
Dick brought us joy.
Sadness...
RIP Mr. Martin. Laugh-in was a great show.

86? :)RIP cool hip Dick.
I watched Laugh-In during some really formative years...age 9 to 14! I have some of the fondest memories of the entire cast.
RIP Mr. Martin. Your humor lives on!!!
RIP Mr. Martin. This show proves that good humor is timeless, and you don't need a bunch of nasty jokes to be funny. Well timed sillyness is just as hilarious.

Rest in peace.

I was born in the 80s and used to watch this when they played the reruns at night. I loved that show, me and my older and significantly wiser bro would watch and he would proceed to tell me stories about the jokes and references they made and I was fascinated. It was like, bonding and learning at the same time. I always associate that show with my brother, and he is gone now. Good times though.
RIP

OMG, he looks so handsome. Just saw his profile on millionaire&celeb dating site "W e a l t h y R o m a n c e. co m" last week. I am wondering what kind of relationship he is looking for on that site.
I loved Laugh-In. Youtubes got a bunch of hilarious clips!

Sesame Street has always had famous guests, but shit, Ruth Buzzi did all the shows...she was a Saturday morning staple in the 70's....I can just picture my sister and I on two opposite ends of the couch, with our Cereal boxes...snacking away...waiting for Mommy and Daddy to get up....

Thanks PSL. I am a little bit high this holiday weekend and it kinda blew my mind that I would have memories from that age, so vividly. Ruth Buzzi was in everything. JoAnne Worley was on some other shows as well. Plus she was the first person that was famous that had my same first name.
You bet your sweet bippy.
RIP, thanks for the laughs.
I was born in 1970......I remember Ruth Buzzi more from the children's shows she was in.....she was in all of them!

ok so it ran from 68 to 73. I would've been 7 at the time in went off air. I liked Ruth Buzzi and Lily Tomlin, and JoAnne Worley
Rowan and Martin: a permanent fixture of my youth and it's joyous, but silly, shows.
RIP Mr. Martin: you made a little girl laugh and feel happy.
Does anyone know how long this show ran? I was born in 66 and I remember it fondly.
Sock it to me
RIP
:(
I remember the Laugh In show from my extreme youth. So many stars got their start on that show, too many to list. RIP you goofy Dick Martin.
Good Night Dick. Give my regards to Lucy.
