Eva Mendes checked her hot ass into Utah's Cirque Lodge rehab facility last January for "personal issues." Star Magazine (via SF Gate) claims Eva was actually researching a film role. Eva plays a Spanish drug lord in the movie "Queen of the South." Her character flees Mexico for Spain when her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered. Errr.....what does this have to do with rehab?
An acting coach told the magazine, "It's not unusual at all for an actor or actress to go to the extreme of checking into rehab to prepare for a character. In fact, I would encourage that for my students, because you want to fully immerse yourself in the role."
Nice try, Eva. If this is true, she checked herself into the wrong joint. The bitch really should have gone undercover in an acting school.
Hopefully, she'll play Charles Manson in her next movie and check into prison for a long ass time in order to "research" the role.

Yeah no people who work in the media on the whole do tend to be pretty discreet about these things. We love a good gossip amongst ourselves but are reluctant to reveal these things to the wider public. Its connsidered very unprofessional and kind of bad form I guess to snitch on celebrities. Another thing I guess is a lot of people working in the media - agents, journos, PRs etc - who could lift the lid on these people are actually getting up to exactly the same thing themselves! I guess there's kind of an unwritten rule of you keep my secret, I'll keep yours. A type of honour amongst thieves if you get my drift!

Keane- Appreciate your comments, like I said, haven't been around too many people to know. I agree, there are many secrets in Hollywood, and I know a lot of people have a lot invested in keeping the secret. I just didn't understand why when she went in, there weren't "friends" who didn't come out and say "We were expecting this, we were hoping she'd get help" etc. Someone always comes forward it seems, for whatever reason, to comment on these situations. Maybe she has very loyal people around her, or many just didn't know, I just felt like this was different...

Momiania - actually the opposite is true. There are plenty of people within the entertainment industry with drug and/or alcohol problems who the general public do not know about. This could be for one of four reasons: the press haven't picked up on it yet; they don't have the evidence to go to press with yet; they are currently "supporting" this person so will disregard indiscretions to keep up a uniform perspective of that person from the paper; or there is someone powerful threatening them or who they want to keep on side. For example, in the case of Heather Mill's hooker and porn-star past, this was widely known in the media a long time before it came out but Paul McCartney was powerful enough to make sure it was kept quiet. Once the relationship disintegrated he was happy for it to come out. There are lots of openly kept secrets in the media world, not just about scandals but about things like who are actually bastards in real life etc (always the last people you would expect it to be). And the other thing is lots of celebs have drug/alcohol probs as they have lots of money & spare time & hardly any responsibility. They have a freedom that people who have to keep it together to do the job that keeps a roof over their head and food on their table just don't have.
I'm not saying I necessarily believe this, but I was shocked when they said she went bc she didn't seem like the rest of them. I've never seen her strung out, she doesn't ever look bad, you know like someone with a substance abuse prob in Hollywood i.e. Kiki, Linds, wino, etc. unwashed, lousy skin, dirty hair, generally unkept.
I'm certainly not an expert, and I haven't been around a lot of people who have a prob, but the paps have a way of finding celebs anywhere. I'm sure there are people that are alcoholics that have all their crap squared away and could fool you, but I just think that there would have been a whiff (no pun intended) of this, like after Heath died and everyone came out of the woodwork and said "oh yeah we knew that"

Rehab facilities are serious places, not holiday camps, and are supposed to 100% protect the privacy of their patients. As if they'd allow some Hollywood celeb to participate in their program alongside seriously vulnerable people. The biggest load of utter shite I have ever had. Surely this dumbass PR can't get away with telling such outright lies?

Madame, I don't think it was based on a true story but the way he wrote it made you feel like it was. Very good book. I'm curious who they are casting in the other parts.

Maybe she did- I mean it's hardly a stigma anymoe to go into rehab. Image is not as tightly controlled as in the old days in Hollywood.

I read this book. The lead character was not an addict so I don't understand what a trip to rehab would accomplish.

If she was going it for research, why wouldn't she say so immediately...or at least at some point sooner than now. Also, what rehab facility lets some random person who has no problems come in and "use" the place to get into character? Lastly, being a Hollywood actress means that she's 90% likely to have a drug problem.
