Pregnant Dude Is Writing A Book
Pregnant dude, aka Thomas Beatie, is currently writing a book called LOVE MAKES A FAMILY: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and an Extraordinary Pregnancy. That title is too damn long! How about, The Life & Times of Hot Pregnant Dude! That sounds better.
Entertainment Tonight reports:
LOVE MAKES A FAMILY follows Thomas Beatie through his transformation from a girl scout and beauty queen to a fully legal and recognized man with a black belt in marital arts and a loving wife named Nancy, herself a former champion bodybuilder. It will follow Thomas and Nancy through their controversial decision to have a baby and yet not hire a surrogate to carry the child; to, instead, have Thomas--who underwent gender reassignment surgery but kept his female reproductive organs--get pregnant and carry the child himself.
I was hoping for a reality show on Vh1, but this will work! This shit better be 99% pictures. A story is best told in pictures. I'm too lazy to read all that shit. Better yet, he should make it a pop-up book. Pop-up books are fun.
Pregnant dude's book is due out September 30th. His baby is due in about 6 weeks.

I and many others on this board have no problem whatsoever with transexual/transgendered persons...one of my dad's colleagues is a pre-surgery transgendered person. Dave wants to be known as Deb...fine.
What bothers me is that people are actually acting like this is some sort of miraculous happening....this is not. This is a woman who choose to live as a man...and still retain her uterus. So, biologically she is a woman....legally this is a man.
Plus, I would understand the mind-set here a bit better if Thomas had made a decision to be a man and stuck to it, not played both sides when the mood struck.

I never said I had a problem with transgendered people, or with the transgender idea, in general. Correcting you on the surgery details had nothing to do with my opinion of transgenders. When I register an opinion about transgenders, THEN you can comment upon it, but until I do, don't ever presume to put words in my mouth. (or at my fingertips) Legally or not, SHE is still a female. SHE has not finished her sexual reassignment, and is therefore, not completely a male. And SHE is pregnant the same way billions of other women have been. SHE may prefer to be CALLED he, but calling me "The Queen of England" doesn't make me the real deal, now does it?

Also I think even though he is "whoring himself out" in some peoples eyes, I'm sure that he is probably doing more for the trans community. In some respects he is kind of selling himself and his baby out. the kid isnt even born yet and he/she is already part of some gigantic media spectacle. i'm sure it isnt easy for him to be so public about his past and deciding that he is trans but at the same time enough is enough. its one thing to be involved in the community and maybe be desecrate about it. its another to make a spectacle of yourself and the LGBT community

SHE had surgery to have her breasts removed, and SHE was taking male-hormone supplements until SHE decided to get pregnant, because HER girlfriend can't have children. SHE still has the female reproductive organs, which is how SHE got pregnant. SHE was just on the hormones long enough SHE grows facial hair.
The fact of the matter is that SHE would prefer to be called he. I'm sure a lot of people here are from the middle of no where where you don't ever come in contact with people who are different than you. Heavens forbid someone who is trans would prefer to be called by the opposite pronoun

Apparently (and this is news to me to) You don't need a vagina to conceive a baby. you just need a womb. They used artificial insemination and believe me, I have NO idea how they worked that out
As far as I've heard (on oprah) has a penis (or quite possibly an enlarged clitoris from testosterone) but he kept his uterus. He is planning on a c-section. He cannot deliver the baby naturally but he can be pregnant.
I'm assuming that it is an enlarged clit or something. I dont know if he got the surgery I havent bothered to look it up. but I dont know what gender reassignment entails. could be that he kept the vagina canal intact and that's how he got pregnant.
Hell, if he wants to be called a "he," fine, but it isn't a miracle he's carrying a child. The miracle is that he was born into a female body. So, his female body is doing what it would do normally. Call yourself a him if you want, Thomas, but don't claim to be a genetic male. You are genetically female, legally male. This miracle is just a confusion of terms and a play on that.

Born Tracy LaGondino, Beatie reports that he fell in love with his wife, Nancy, while living in Hawaii. He underwent sex reassignment partially because same-sex marriages are not legal there.
Beatie had testosterone therapy and chest reconstruction surgery, but retained his female genitalia.
After marriage, the couple wanted to start a family, but Nancy was unable to conceive. Consequently, although Beatie is legally recognized as a male, he decided to carry the baby.

To me this is just like Denise Richards and WO, whoring out the kids to get attention.
