Taylor Swift Gave A Surprise Performance At Stonewall Inn (But Where Was Lindsay Lohan?)

Taylor Swift is currently really big on the world tasting her Gay Pride rainbow (with middling results) and the next assault in her campaign took the form of a pop-up performance at NYC’s Stonewall Inn last night. Lindsay Lohan, who recently outed herself as a huge Tay Tay stan, was nowhere in attendance. Maybe the yacht she’s currently “vacationing” on couldn’t make it to New York Harbor in time?

Pitchfork reports that Swifty came out with her acoustic gee-tar to wish everyone a happy Pride Month and sang “Shake It Off”. As you probably already know, Stonewall is known as the birthplace of the Gay Liberation Movement. Jesse Tyler Ferguson was hosting a series of performances last night in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and introduced her and she called him back up on stage with her. She must have thought it was Lohan at first. What – they’re both ginges.

“I heard that this is Jesse’s favorite song to do at karaoke,” Taylor said of “Shake It Off.” “So if there’s anything you feel like you want to jump in on, if there’s like, your part that you’re really good at, then, just sing, dance, just be yourself. This is a really safe space.” Watch her intimate performance below.

Taylor’s rainbow barrage this week culminated in her dropping a new single, “You Need To Calm Down”, that rails against haters of gays, her friends, and well, her. It’s already inspiring a lot of think pieces by annoyed people so mission accomplished, girl! (And thanks for the love – hey, she wrote her senator and gave some money. That’s more than some people do. Fuck, I’m gay and even I don’t do that. Shut up, I’m broke. Happy Pride Month!)
