Tom Hanks Proudly Displays His Black Card As Tim Allen Thinks About Getting Coffee
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are out promoting Toy Story 4 and blogger BlogXilla wanted to see if they had what it takes to earn their black card. Tom Hanks, who grew up in Oakland, proved that he could at least apply for a black card while Tim Allen awkwardly sat there, wondering what the hell was going on. Kind of like me watching Wild Hogs. Tim Allen was probably hoping to talk about Trump or anarchism, anything but Spades!
According to SF Gate
Blogger BlogXilla tested whether Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, the stars of Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” are worthy of a “black card” when he interviewed them recently during a press junket for the film. But only one of them was able to pass the blogger’s test of their knowledge of black culture.
It was the person raised on Oakland.
Hanks, who graduated from Skyline High School, relied on his upbringing in the Town when BlogXilla asked him and Allen about spades. They were given a scenario where they were playing spades against two people who have been “talking crap the whole game,” but they and their imaginary spades partner both only have “four and a possible.”“What do you do?” BlogXilla asked. “Do you bid nine, or do you bid 10, go wheels and go all out for it?”
Hanks instantly shook his head, shrugged his shoulders and said, “Ten. Go all out.”
Of course Tom Hanks is quick and charming and Tim Allen wants to accuse himself to get coffee.
Allen, who admitted, “I don’t know what you guys are talking about,” offered to go get coffee while Hanks finished the interview. Hanks was incredulous at Allen, asking if him if he had really never played spades before.
“Now when I was in Oakland, California, we all played whist,” Hanks said before imitating how Oaklanders would throw down cards back in his day. “Kids were playing whist, man. But that’s like a version of spades.”
Tim Allen’s lack of knowledge about black culture doesn’t come as a complete shock to me as he doesn’t have a rapper son named Chet Hankz like Tom does. Tim also once stated that he thought it was unfair that white comics can’t use the N-word, so maybe he’s not the most “woke” comic. And I’m not saying he’s a racist (but others have), I’m just saying it’s a shitty cause to champion. But it worked out great for Michael Richards so what do I know!
