Roman Polanski’s Wife Is Mad That He’s A Character In “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”

French actress and model, Emmanuelle Seigner has been married to director Roman Polanski since 1989. She married him after that whole “fleeing America before being sentenced for statutory rape in 1977″ thing. Well Emmanuelle is the type to stand by her man, and she’s doing it again now. Emmanuelle is pissed that her husband is being used in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and she took to social media to let us know it.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Emmanuelle est fumée (that’s French for she’s pissed off). She hopped on Instagram to lay it all out there for the people to see. She thinks it’s trashy that Hollywood would make Roman a “pariah” but then use him in their movie anyway.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood touches on the Manson murders, specifically that of Sharon Tate who at the time of her murder was eight-months pregnant with Roman Polanski’s child. Emmanuelle is pissed that the movie uses aspects of Roman’s life in it and never even consulted him. Don’t worry, I hear Sharon Tate is actually barely in it. Here’s her statement as translated by THR:

“How can you take advantage of someone’s tragic life while trampling on them? Something to think about (I’m talking about the system that tramples Roman). A little explanation because I understand that people don’t understand my point-of-view. I am not criticizing the film. I am just saying that it doesn’t bother them [in Hollywood] to make a film about Roman and his tragic story, and make money with it… while at the same time they have made him a pariah. And all without consulting him of course. Let’s judge the film as a good one, but the idea is this is bothersome.”

Here’s Emmanuelle’s post:

Polish actor Rafał Zawierucha is playing Roman in the movie. While in Cannes, Quentin mentioned that he was a fan of Roman Polanski’s work–I’m assuming he meant only the movie-making and not the child-sexing:

“I’m a fan of Roman Polanski’s work, but particularly Rosemary’s Baby. I like it a lot.”

So obviously one person in Hollywood doesn’t think of Roman as a pariah. I mean it’s a guy with questionable actions himself, but still, allies are allies. Roman sure doesn’t have them in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who last year kicked him out after the #MeToo movement was like: “Uh, isn’t it about time?” so he should take ’em where he can get ’em. Anjelica Huston can’t be out here fighting for you alone. Don’t slap at Quentin, reach out to Quentin! I guess you’ve been with Roman away from America for so long you forgot that Hollywood is all about being nice to people you hate.
