Open Post: Hosted By The Renovated Brady Bunch House

After more drama and tears than when Marcia got hit in the face with a football, we’ve got our first look at the all-new (or technically, all-old) Brady Bunch house!

After it was revealed that HGTV was the one who stole Lance Bass’s dreams of Brady Bunch home ownership, we learned that they were going to team up with the original six kids from The Brady Bunch, as well as some HGTV pros, to restore the home to its former TV set glory. The Brady Bunch house, located in Studio City, CA, was only used for outside shots of the house. The interior was never used for filming. But HGTV got the bright idea to buy the house, gut it, add an extra storey and a staircase, and completely re-create the home. They really nailed it. It’s got everything: wall-to-wall beige carpet, wood-paneled space dividers, dusty olive upholstery.

The big reveal happened on Good Morning America this morning. As we already know, the renovation was done for an upcoming show, A Very Brady Renovation, which will air on HGTV this September. GMA got a tour inside the house, and it was explained how they made the inside of the exterior of the house match the inside from the show. A whole second floor was added to accommodate everyone’s bedrooms. 2000 additional square feet in total were added to the house to re-create the home on the show. Even Alice’s bedroom was done in the renovation.

As you can see, no detail was missed, from that ugly-ass horse sculpture to the glass grapes on the coffee table. Even the backyard was perfectly Brady-ized, with a swing-set, dog house, and AstroTurf. They didn’t show the kitchen, but I’m sure if you were to venture in there, it would be such a close match to the original, you’d swear you just caught a big whiff of Alice’s meatloaf and Tang. Not like that! This is a family show.
