Steven Spielberg Is Done With “Bull” Because Of The Michael Weatherly Allegations

A few months after we all found out that Eliza Dushku was dropped from Bull after she complained about Michael Weatherly’s sexually harassing ways, Steven Spielberg, who was an executive producer, decided to walk away from the hit show. First, is Bull a hit show? That’s news. Second, since it’s a hit show, it’s also news that someone is walking away from a money maker. Although, Steven Spielberg walking away from Bull money is like you walking away from a quarter lying on the street.

According to Deadline:

Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television is walking away from CBS’ popular legal drama Bull in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations against star Michael Weatherly.

Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw have been major supporters of the Time’s Up movement from the start, and I hear Spielberg, who had met with Dushku, didn’t want to be associated with the series any longer. That is a bold move since a long-running CBS procedural is considered one of the most lucrative propositions in the TV business, often associated with a financial windfall for producers.

As I mentioned above, Eliza Dushku was fired from Bull after complaining about Michael Weatherly making jokes about a “rape van” and “threesomes,” and commenting on her looks. That resulted in the crew making the same jokes to Eliza. To avoid a lawsuit, CBS paid Eliza $9.5 million, which is what she would’ve made if she stayed on the show.

Michael Weatherly admitted to saying creepy things and apologized for it, but says he didn’t get her fired.

In case you don’t know, Bull is based on the life of Dr. Phil.

Created by Dr. Phil McGraw and Paul Attanasio, Bull stars Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw. Brilliant, brash and charming, Dr. Bull is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick.

BRILLIANT, BRASH AND CHARMING?! I see that Dr. Phil’s side gig is writing descriptions for his own show. I’m surprised sexy and well endowed wasn’t put in there too. No wonder this ended in such a mess. All roads of messiness lead to Dr. Phil.
