John Singleton Is Reportedly In A Coma After Suffering A Stroke

Over the weekend, we learned the awful news that Oscar-nominated director John Singleton was in the hospital after having a stroke. We were told that the stroke was a “minor” one and it seemed like he was going to recover. But it seems like sources got things wrong, sadly, and John’s stroke wasn’t so minor. TMZ has now updated the awful news about John with worse news. They say he’s in a coma.

John returned to L.A. from Costa Rica last week and his legs didn’t seem right. So he went to the hospital where he suffered a stroke in his room. Sources say that the stroke was a major one and John’s now in a coma in ICU.

TMZ may have found out about John’s condition, because legal papers have been filed. John’s mom Sheila Ward is asking a judge to make her John’s temporary conservator so she can make medical and business decisions for him. John didn’t have a power of attorney set up, which is why his mom is asking the court to make her his conservator until he hopefully pulls through and recovers.

John is only 51 years old, and sources think that his flight from Costa Rica to L.A. triggered his stroke. The internet tells me that a flight from Costa Rica to L.A. is around 6 hours, and I thought that one was only in danger of clots if they didn’t stretch out their legs on really long flights. Scary. If I ever find myself on another long flight with my sister and she starts doing yoga in her seat (which she has before), I’m not going to laugh at her. Well, I will if she yoga farts.
