Open Post: Hosted By Nicolas Cage Doing An Angry Karaoke Version Of Prince’s Purple Rain

April 24, 2019 / Posted by:

Nicolas Cage has had quite a rough few weeks, even by Nic Cage standards. He got drunk-married in Las Vegas to Erika Koike for a few glorious days, then tried to annul said marriage and now she’s going after him for spousal support. So what does one do when confronted with such a disaster of a few weeks? Well, if you’re Nic Cage you do a rage(y)-scream(y)-karaoke version of Purple Rain. Here comes the second coming of Prince to slap that mic out of Nic’s hand.

According to TMZ

Nicolas Cage had something he clearly wanted to get off his chest when he hit up a karaoke bar … because his rendition of “Purple Rain” was … emotional.

Nic was at a joint Sunday in L.A.’s Koreatown when he tried his hand and vocal cords on the classic Prince song, and we’re guessing the performance was fueled by his desire to annul his recent marriage of 4 days.

People say music is therapy so maybe this is Nic’s version of scream therapy? That said, rage singing Purple Rain just feels mismatched. It’s like rage singing something from The Sound Of Music. Can you do it? Sure. Should you? Not really. And why does he have to bring Prince into this mess? Or rain for that matter. Or the color purple. Isn’t this the exact reason why Jesus created metal music?

Here’s a look at Nic’s performance in all its angry drunken glory.
