Those Bodybuilding Brothers Are Suing Jussie Smollett’s Lawyer For Defamation

There’s a new Jussie Smollett case update, y’all! Well sort of. The messy tale of a TV actor setting up an attack against himself and then getting found out, and then the Chicago police using more investigative work to solve his non-violent crime than they ever have to solve any police brutality complaint, came to a close (mostly) when Jussie saw all the charges against him for allegedly lying get dropped. While President Donald Trump has vowed to get to the bottom of it, and the City of Chicago is suing Jussie for all the extensive work they thrust upon themselves, it seems that two people kind of got forgotten in the hubub: Abimbola “Abel”/”Bola” (pick a name sis) & Ola Osundairo–the men allegedly hired by Jussie to attack him. It’s time to hear from them now, and they’re suing Jussie’s legal team for defamation.

The Blast is reporting that Abel and Ola are suing-mad. Unlike the City of Chicago, they aren’t suing Jussie himself; instead the brothers are going after his lawyer, Mark Geragos, Mark’s firm, and Mark’s associate Tina Glandian, saying that the claims made over the course of that clusterfuck of bad energy ruined their lives in varying ways. Let the brothers count the ways for you: Defamation. Okay it was one thing, but they did it often and the brothers wanna get paid unspecified damages.

Jussie’s lawyers are accused of:

“Making public defamatory statements against Plaintiffs, which were published broadly in Illinois by major news outlets such as the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, and WGN Radio. Moreover, these tortious statements involve a hoax conducted in Illinois and orchestrated by Mr. Smollett. Finally, and importantly, these statements also impacted the reputation of Plaintiffs, who are employed and live in Illinois…. As a result of Ms. Glandian’s comments, Plaintiffs have suffered significant emotional distress and feel unsafe and alienated in their local Chicago community. This is because Ms. Glandian, a very famous attorney, falsely and publicly stated Plaintiffs have committed a gruesome hate crime, lied under oath, and intentionally misled CPD.”

And it wasn’t just crime-defamation, the brothers also don’t like that they suggested that Abel was a huge gay when Tina went on podcast Reasonable Doubt and suggested that Jussie and Abel participated in “homosexual sex acts together” (Lucky Jussie) and were part of an illegal steroid trafficking ring in Nigeria. But don’t worry, it’s not because Abel is a homophobe, it’s because his country of origin is super homophobic and homosexuality is literally illegal in Nigeria:

“Ms. Glandian’s globally broadcasted statements that Bola Osundairo is homosexual endangers him and the lives of his Nigerian family.”

But again they reiterate, this isn’t even about the gay thing (mostly), it’s about the defamation in general that was caused when Jussie’s lawyers claimed they attacked him when they did but they did because he told them to:

“Ms. Glandian’s statements indicating Plaintiffs actually criminally battered Mr. Smollett without his consent are patently false and defamatory, as Mr. Smollett originated, planned, and orchestrated the attack.”

Well this is a mess. It’s weirdly comforting/depressing that no matter the scenario or crime or controversy you can rely on it always coming down to someone getting sued. Ah, capitalism. Meanwhile, Jussie should probably be looking into some financial future moves himself, since the crew of Empire already hates him and he’s a “washed up actor”. I hope he has other skills. I think even if Abel doesn’t get money he’ll be fine. He’s hot and he seems athletic enough for some mild Cirque du Soleil-type work right?
