Open Post: Hosted By Oprah Trying To Be Relatable By Complaining About The Price of Avocados

April 18, 2019 / Posted by:

Oprah wants us to know that even though she is a multi-billionare, she is still very much one of the people. So much so that she also complains about the price of avocados! In fact, she thinks they are so overpriced  that she bought her own damn avocado orchard and now travels with her own organic avocados. Just like all of us do! Let’s all chant together: SHE’S ONE OF US!

According to Travel + Leisure, Oprah discussed this on The Daily Show

As part of a Between the Scenes segments filmed during Oprah’s recent appearance on The Daily Show, Trevor Noah asked her what some “normal” things are about her life. Her first thought: food “I travel with my own bread and I bring my own avocados,” she responded. But that’s when the idea of “normalcy” went off the rails: “I have an avocado orchard,” she continued, “so I think it’s ridiculous to pay for avocados.”

“Which is why you bought your own orchard? Are you kidding me?” Noah laughed. “That is not a normal story. ‘I made my own avocados because they are too expensive!’

I appreciate the effort of Oprah to be one of us normals, with normal people problems, though she should maybe stick to losing weight and occasionally hitting the weed pipe.  Oprah went on to complain about the price of having your underwear washed ($5 a pair!) and states she no longer sends them off. I’m sure she just hired a full-time underwear washer to wash them in her gold washing machine.

Oprah trying to be relatable is the most adorable thing I’ve seen in a while. Oprah’s been so rich and so famous for so long she thinks that buying a avocado farm is a viable solution to the price of avocados. It’s like if you think the price of oil changes are too high, so you buy a Bentley dealership. And she’s not wrong. Avocados are overpriced! Everyone should just get an avocado farm. YOU get an avocado farm! YOU get an avocado farm! And YOU get an avocado farm. Problem solved!
