A YouTube Family Pissed Off The Internet With Idiotic “Prank” And Had To Apologize For It

The New York Daily News is reporting that humanity is still out here proving that we’re hands-down the worst species on the planet. YouTube couple, Cole and Savannah LaBrant, are getting some shit for doing what YouTubers do: act a mess for attention and $$$$. It all started because of what they thought was a harmless prank for April Fool’s Day. A bit of a funny jest to play on their children and record it for the amusement of their 8.7 million (Really guys? You don’t have families of your own to pay attention to? Or…?) followers. But it took a hard turn pretty fast and went from fun familial jokestering to potentially traumatic.

Cole and Savannah have two children, Everleigh who is 6-years-old and Posie who is fresh out da womb. In the video titled “We Have To Give Our Puppy Away… Saying Goodbye Forever ,” the parents let Everleigh know some bad news–they have to give away their beloved puppy Carl:

“Basically we are giving Carl away to somebody else… We feel like we can’t take good enough care of him at our house… He needs someone to take him outside more often.”

Yes, that’s Carl in the screen shot above, looking at the camera like, “Please don’t let this be a prank. Get me away from these people!”

The news makes Everleigh sad, of course, and she almost bawls while holding Carl. Posie is fine–when she’s not looking at Carl, she forgets he exists. But Everleigh is pure emotion. Satan’s favorite parents then let Everleigh know that Carl is staying and they played with her emotions for views! It was just for fun and $$$$! They only wanted Everleigh to feel like her whole emotional stability was crumbling around her 6-year-old self! LMAOOO! Who wouldn’t want to make their child feel the sadness represented in that header picture?

Backlash was swift–people hopped on social media and let them have it:

“I would just like to say, from the bottom of my heart- Fuck Cole and Savannah Labrant and anyone who continues to support them.”

“Do Cole and Savannah want Everleigh and her sister to grow up hating them? Yikes.”

Now whatever you think of this family I promise you: it’s so much worse. Watch the video–they have an intro song. I know that Cole’s Elsa-level-frosted white-tipped blonde gelled up bangs will make your eyes roll into the back of your head so hard it gives you a concussion (I’m supposed to believe man wakes up with his hair styled like that?!), but girl, it’s an experience. A bad one, but it’s something to talk about. Sort of like Two Girls One Cup:

Look how proud she is in that picture of those two sad children. Well the comments were so much that they had to make a video addressing their “prank”. Cole explains their thinking:

“So! We were going to April Fool’s you guys! …So we thought that we’re gonna tell them that we’re gonna give Carl away, because we know how much you love Carl, we love Carl, we all love Carl, so we’re gonna say that we’re giving him away–April Fool’s!–You know… We’re not giving him away. And as we’re talking, Everleigh overhears us talking in the other room and she buries her face into a pillow and starts crying… We don’t know if she’s, like, serious, or if she believes us, or if she knows, because we’ve been April Fool’sing each other all day… So I pulled the camera out and started filming. …And she comes up and she’s really crying… And this is where I think that we were in the wrong–We rolled with it.”

THAT‘s where you went wrong? You’ve taken several steps to the left at this point. Can’t wait til next year when you raise your prank game up a level just to top all this attention you’re getting:

“Your sister has been kidnapped! She was screaming for you to save her as the kidnappers broke Daddy’s kneecap and stole our car to escape! … … April Fool’s!”
