Trump Will Appoint Jon Voight And Mike Huckabee To The Kennedy Center Board Of Trustees

The Kennedy Center is one of those American institutions we don’t really pay much attention to until that one time a year when they announce their honorees and we see some assortment of legends decked out in rainbow ribbons like they’re making an appearance at the world’s most staid pride parade. Well, leave it to Donald Trump to ruin a thing we barely care about! While he’s not swapping out their signature rainbow ribbon for a bright red MAGA lanyard (yet), he will make 10 new appointments to their board of trustees. One is Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ dad, and the other is Angelina Jolie’s dad. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Voight and Mike Huckabee are just about to get a six-year term on the board handed to them on a silver platter. Thank god Cher was already honored last year. Otherwise her name might not have come up again until 2024!

Only an appointing finger as short and stubby as Trump’s could take out both The Special Olympics and the legitimacy of the Kennedy Center in under 48 hours. I get that Jon Voight is actually in the arts, but his highest acting achievement (don’t @me) was getting eaten and regurgitated by a rubber anaconda. He also thinks ole’ crazy-eyes Michele Bachmann should play his daughter should they ever make a movie about her life. Which is delusional on multiple levels. But Mike Huckabee? He probably doesn’t know his opera from his asshole!

Apparently, spending time and money at Mar-A-Lago really pays dividends. Many of the 8 other people up for a nomination are richies who paid good money for the appointment.

I’m sure other presidential appointees over the years have had dubious artistic credits, but I am irrevocably biased against Donald Trump. At any rate, congratulations in advance to 2019 Kennedy Center Honorees James Woods, Kid Rock, Scott Baio, and Roseanne Barr (better luck next year, Kanye). What an honor!
