Hot Slut Of The Day!

Maria Vidal!

If you’re a cinephile of the most serious kind, then you know all about the 1985 masterpiece Body Rock, because it’s #2 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Films Of All-Time list under Showgirls (1995). Bitch, don’t bother fact-checking an OBVIOUS fact. In case you aren’t an NYU film school graduate, Body Rock was a gritty and raw cinematic jewel from the 80s about the world of breakdancing, and it starred multiple-Oscar winner Lorenzo Lamas (again, don’t fact check me!) and Sheila from The Chorus Line movie. It was nominated for two Oscars, and by Oscars I mean Razzies. Body Rock also featured a theme song by one-hit chanteuse Maria Vidal, which was a pink bottle AquaNet-encrusted Laura Branigan B-Side of perfection.

Laura Branigan also had a nipple-burning song of hotness on the Body Rock soundtrack, but Maria Vidal got the title song. Before Body Rock, Maria Vidal was in a group with Desmond Child, who is now a superstar songwriter partly responsible for I Was Made For Lovin’ You by KISS, You Give Love A Bad Name by Bon Jovi, How Can We Be Lovers? by Michael Bolton, the Thong Song, Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca, and many more. When the group broke up, Maria went solo and got a deal with EMI. While working on her first solo album with Jellybean Benitez, EMI asked her to coo out the theme song to Body Rock. It became an international dance hit.

If a young Nia Vardalos played Esmerelda in an 80s soft pop rock version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, this would be her big number. And that “I drank too much coffee and now I really have to pee and my subway train just stopped due to track construction” move that Maria does at the beginning IS the move.

Maria put out a couple of albums and several singles. She’s still in the music game where she’s sung back-up vocals for Lana Del Rey and Cher, wrote songs for Belinda Carlisle, and produced songs for Carrie Underwood.

Those pink mittens Maria is wearing are probably in the Smithsonian, but I need some similar ones to smack tricks down with when Hollywood inevitably reboots Body Rock (because all perfect HIT, yes it was a HIT, classics get rebooted) with Zac Efron and Ariana Grande redoes the title song.
