R. Kelly Was Charged With 10 Counts Of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse
Well I’ll be damned. Just when you thought the entire Chicago legal system was laser focused on proving the guilt of a man who used a personal check in the alleged commission of a felony, it’s nice to know they also had the time to conduct a grand jury investigation into the alleged sexual abuse crimes of Robert Sylvester Kelly. According to TMZ, the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has charged Robert with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and I just decided to have champagne for lunch. And dinner. While I’m celebrating, Robert is probably packing a sad brown bag lunch and texting his one remaining friend to come water his plants while he’s gone because he’s expected to voluntarily turn himself over to authorities tonight after a no-bail arrest warrant was issued.
TMZ reports:
Prosecutors hit him with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse Friday morning. TMZ has learned 9 of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old. One of them is the subject of 4 different counts. There are a total of 4 alleged victims.
Sources connected to Kelly tell TMZ the singer plans to voluntarily turn himself into authorities tonight. Still, prosecutors will reportedly appear before a judge today seeking an arrest warrant for him.
The criminal sexual abuse charge is a class 2 felony in Illinois, and each charge carries a max sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison.
Apparently, Michael Avenatti wasn’t just blowing smoke up our assess when he announced he had a tape that could finally do Robert in after 25 years of allegedly raping and abusing young women and girls. TMZ says the grand jury convened upon the introduction of that tape, and that it “was a pivotal force leading to the charges”. But Michael’s clients were not the only ones who helped catch (an alleged) predator.
The charges come directly on the heels of 2 other Kelly accusers coming forward with their attorney Gloria Allred. The women allege sexual misconduct by Kelly in a Baltimore hotel room in 1998 … when they were both underage teens.
But I think you can guess which attorney will be ramrodding the press conference.
We will discuss our investigation, new evidence and new developments in the R. Kelly matter at our press conf at 4pm today local time at 800 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL. This will follow the press conf of Kim Foxx.

Kim Foxx’s press conference is currently being live streamed on Facebook. And she’s pleading for any other victims to come forward.
I just checked and I don’t have any champagne in the house so I’ll be toasting Robert Sylvester with a dusty bottle of Grand Marnier I found in the back of the pantry. Which is fitting.
