Open Post: Hosted By Kelly Clarkson Doing “Shallow”

The Gagabot 3000’s mission won’t be complete until it either wins an Academy Award for its stirring performance as Human Woman In Love, or fries its circuits in front of an audience of thousands (if we’re being generous) when it ultimately loses to Glenn Close. But it’s already achieved one important step in its mission to achieve Global Domination, it’s rendered me susceptible to its star signal Shallow. I resisted it at first, but repetition is a son of a bitch, and now it’s an earworm I’ll probably have to live with for at least the next 5 years.

Thankfully, it’s been popular for long enough now that it’s getting covered by singers other than Gagabot 3000 and its maker Bradley Cooper. Enter real life, flesh and blood human woman Kelly Clarkson, who covered Shallow at a gig all by herself, rendering poor Bradley even more superfluous than his monstrous creation has.

According to People:

Kelly Clarkson surprised concertgoers at her Meaning of Life Tour stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday, performing a rousing cover of “Shallow,” the Grammy Award-winning song sung in the film by stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Here’s Kelly’s version which replaces Bradley with two women in black dresses, hiding the in the sha-a-a-a-dows.

Who knew it could be performed without the wailing sounds of a cat being swung around by its tail! I love that Kelly’s all “I hope I don’t suck” then does the damn thing to the point where I’m not sure I’ve even heard this song before. Apparently, Kelly said she did fuck up though. After she finished she told the audience:

“I messed that one verse up. I like that my favorite part is ‘keeping it so hard core,’ so I just sang it too early, but it’s my favorite part,” she told the crowd.

“But thank you for clapping,” she added, before taking a sip of red wine.

Do you know what happens when you give the Gagabot 3000 a sip of wine?
