The Rock Says He Was The First Choice To Host This Year’s Oscars

The Oscars, this year’s front runner in the category of Worse Planned Awards Show of 2019, has been steadily declining in ratings over the years yet interest has been building up because of constant issues arising ahead of the broadcast. And by “interest” I mean people waiting to see how terrible the show will be since this is the first time in 30 years that the Oscars will have no host. Meanwhile, over on Twitter, one user stated that the best person for the job would be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and he quickly let them know that the Academy reached out to him first for the hosting gig, so Kevin Hart was their second, or third, or fourth, or last choice.

I would have LOVED to see The Rock strutting around in a too-tight tuxedo making fun of celebrities for three hours straight. Well, maybe for about an hour because it is still The Oscars after all and every year it’s drier than sand on wheat toast. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. According to Screenrant The Rock tweeted out his revelation in response to a user’s question about him hosting next year’s ceremony.

Unfortunately, the road he’s talking about is a cash paved highway leading to a check I’m sure the Academy can hardly duplicate. After he completes filming the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle he’s starring in a Robert Zemeckis project titled The King, a reboot of the classic Big Trouble in Little China (which he better not fuck up) and another action movie co-starring the beautifully bland Gal Gadot called Red Notice. The way it looks now The Rock won’t be hosting The Oscars until 2030.  And I also like how he addressed the statement by letting everyone know that, unlike Kevin Hart, HE turned the job down first. Or wait, what if The Rock is just trolling us all? Or even worse, he’s trolling Kevin by bringing up the hosting fiasco once again. I hope that’s not what it is because Kevin just stopped talking about that shit and I’m enjoying the quiet way too much for him to reconvene the I’m Still Kinda Sorry apology tour.
