Cardi B Will Be Part Of The Super Bowl…In A Commercial

Cardi B still isn’t going to appear alongside Adam Levine and his back-up band during this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, but don’t think the political voice of her generation isn’t going to make money from the big day. Cardi will reportedly sell Pepsi in a Super Bowl commercial. Oh em gee, if it involves her drinking soda while chucking a pump at somebody’s head in the spot, I might actually enjoy watching sportsball for once.

TMZ says that Cardi will follow in the footsteps of American icons like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Beyonce by perhaps performing a couple of bars from “Bodak Yellow” and fake-guzzling a concoction that can de-rust a nail if you leave it in there long enough. Or is that Coke? Fresh off from clapping back at Gia Gunn for that sad impersonation of her on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Cardi’s nail artist Jenny Bui hinted at the Pepsi ad by posting a picture of these elegant nails:

The ad has reportedly already been shot and will first air during the Super Bowl, and then a million times afterwards.

Despite being a feature on one of Maroon 5’s tracks, Cardi declined to perform with them at the Super Bowl, because she reportedly wants to stand kneel with Colin Kaepernick.

Other esteemed artists who have shilled Pepsi during the big game in the past are P!nk, The Spice Girls, Mariah Carey and One Direction.

It’s rumored Cardi is going to “put on a show” with Bruno Mars in the days leading up to the game. Who knows what that portends but hopefully Cardi will shove a can of Pepsi in his mouth before he sings “Uptown Funk” because I can’t be alone in just being… I can’t with that song.
