Duchess Meghan’s Personal Assistant Has Reportedly Quit

Last week, Michael brought us the story of Duchess Meghan‘s alleged wedding day tiara demands. And the person I felt the most bad for in that story was whoever would assist Duchess Meghan as she tried to wrap her hands around her tiara of choice (not an enviable job when you’re yanking it from The Queen). Whoever that was no longer has to worry about awkward moments like that, as The Daily Mail is reporting that Meghan’s personal assistant has quit.

A Kensington Palace source tells The Daily Mail that Meghan’s assistant, known only as Melissa, quit and it was “a real shock.” The source wonders why she’d want to leave such a “prestigious position so soon,” but also says she was a good employee:

“Melissa is a hugely talented person. She played a pivotal role in the success of the Royal Wedding and will be missed by everyone in the Royal Household.”

Meghan’s former agent Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne has described Meghan as “determined” to succeed, and that she could instantly dismiss people that didn’t share her “vision.” Gina added that Meghan “likes to move on.” Maybe Meghan and Melissa ended things over a disagreement about Meghan and Prince Harry’s new living quarters. “Your Majesty, I need actual numbers here. The requested square footage of Prince Harry’s office can’t be: bigger and sexier than Prince William’s.

Melissa quitting could have something to do with having to deal with the Royal Wedding back in May. On top of the alleged tiara incident, Meghan had to deal with a non-stop tsunami of bullshit from her family leading up to the big day. I hope Melissa got an extra-nice severance package. Seeing the name MARKLE, THOMAS come up on call display is enough to make anyone file their two-weeks notice. Melissa deserves a 21-gun salute and her own royal holiday in recognition for screening those calls for as long as she did.

And here’s Meghan and Harry at an evening ceremony of remembrance for the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day at Westminister Abbey yesterday.
