Rebel Wilson Is Sorry For Going On A Twitter Blocking Spree

November 6, 2018 / Posted by:

Last week, the publicity tour for Rebel Wilson’s upcoming romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic had people thinking “Isn’t she delusional” after she claimed she was the first plus-size star of a rom-com. Of course that wasn’t true, and Twitter came after her. Rebel responded by blocking the people who called her out, which only made things worse. Rebel is now sorry.

Rebel walked back her comments about being the first, as well as her comments about how Queen Latifah and Mo’nique might not have technically been considered plus-size or leads.

The addition of Melissa McCarthy is a bit confusing, since I don’t believe Melissa McCarthy has ever starred in a romantic comedy. Unless Rebel is counting Melissa’s perfect on-screen chemistry with those fingerless leather gloves in The Heat? See, this is the kind of questioning that might have previously gotten me blocked on Twitter by Rebel, but not anymore. At least not right now. Rebel also acknowledged that she shut down any conversation by blocking people.

Mo’nique hasn’t responded to any of this, but several Twitter users let it be known that Rebel had unblocked them. So maybe someone on Rebel’s team has advised her to lay off the block button in the future, due to the fact that it’s going to be pretty hard to sell Isn’t It Romantic on the bare shirtless back of Liam Hemsworth alone. That’s a skill reserved for Chris Hemsworth only.
