Paula Abdul Fell Off The Stage Last Night
Last night, Paul Abdul was performing the second date on her Straight Up 2018 tour, when she fell off the stage and into the crowd right in the middle of warbling a song. Unfortunately, there were no reports that MC Skat Cat was there to catch her fall, but even though Paula got “Knocked Out” she managed to keep her “Crazy Cool” and the show went on once she decided to continue to “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” because she was feeling “Alright Tonight“. Ok, Ok, I know that was painful, but TMZ already took the obvious headline that Paula went “Straight Down“.
Paula’s unintentional stage dive was on the second night of her tour in Biloxi, Mississippi (my third grade self: “Spell Mississippi backwards. Ha ha, you said ‘I pee pee!'”). Paula tackled the first dangerous hurdle of sexy sauntering to the front of the stage over the ever timeless prop of billowing silk scarves that threatened to take her down, stopping safely just away from the edge. After a pause there, she probably decided that if the scarves couldn’t take her down, nothing could, and she decided to keep walking forward- right onto someone’s head in the front row. I have watched the video dozens of times now, and I can’t tell if she’s reaching out to a fan, or just decided “Fuck it, Im going to fall eventually, might as well make it happen now. It’s just about nap time anyway.”
Paula’s previous show was cancelled due to what she claimed were production issues with the venue. This caused a hub bub on her Instagram page, as she reposted comments from supporters supporting the theory that the venue was not big enough to hold some of their stage props. Concerts of any size have a pre-production plan that includes measuring the stage to make sure that the sets fit, so either someone on Paula’s team didn’t do their job, the venue mis-measured or took a magic pill and shrunk overnight, or something in the water ain’t clean about this story. In any case, this tour is already a mess and it’s barely begun. Get your tickets now!
Paula also fell on stage last year while opening for New Kids On The Block. To be fair, wouldn’t you be falling around the dreaminess of all that hot middle-aged NKOTB ass? Not to mention being almost 60 years old like Paula is, dancing around in towering heels while perhaps under the influence of pain killers?
Paula has yet to pop back up on Instagram this morning with a mention of the fall, but it appears safe to say that she is still a few years away from that promise of a new hip.
