A Property Brothers Sitcom Is Being Developed At Fox

The Scott brothers already have a million TV shows and now they’re getting another one, except this one won’t be about Drew and Jonathan Scott fixing up houses while the audience at home tries desperately not to be blinded by the light reflecting off their teeth.

Variety says that Fox is developing a single-camera comedy series about Drew and Jonathan called It Takes Two. This does not appear to be a made-for-TV adaptation of the 1995 Parent Trap rip-off It Takes Two, starring Steve Guttenberg, Kirstie Alley, and the Olsen twins. It will be based on It Takes Two: Our Story, the 2017 memoir published by Drew and Jonathan. The show will be about two twin brothers who join forces in the real estate market after discovering they’re stronger together than apart. So Property Brothers but with a laugh track.

The show reportedly has a script commitment already, and is being written by Jon and Josh Silberman, who had written for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Drew and Jonathan Scott will serve as executive producers. Drew and Jonathan already have eight shows, starting with Property Brothers, and most recently Property Brothers: Linda & Drew Say I Do.

It’s not known who will play the twin brothers in It Takes Two. It could be Drew and Jonathan themselves; after all, their HGTV shows are so scripted and corny, a sitcom is the next logical step. But if Fox is going to throw a highly unnecessary TV show at any of the Scott brothers, it should have been the oft-forgotten older brother J.D. Scott. And yes, it would be a reality show about magic called Now You See Me (Please Tell Me Someone Sees Me?).
