The AMAs Red Carpet Really Brought Out The Sparkles

The American Music Awards doesn’t have the respectability of the Grammys or the pizazz of the MTV VMAs, but it’s got…well, it’s got a pointy award and people that show up, and that’s all you really need for a music award show. As such, guests still put in some effort for the red carpet. Post Malone’s hair is still a mess and he’s got those “Yes I’ve been slowly picking off my Shellac manicure” nails, but he also came through with a bedazzled belt buckle and nudie suit made by Union Western Clothing featuring his initials and several snakes. I guess he didn’t get the memo that Taylor Swift had the whole snake thing locked down last night. Oh well, it still pulled his whole look together. That is, if he was going for a look that tells people he’s a very successful businessman who sells snakes at an Alabama swap meet.

Moving on to even more shimmer and glitter is Bebe Rexha, an artist who makes even Rita Ora pull up Google on her phone. But after last night, everyone should know who Bebe Rexha is, and that’s solely based on her Balmain dress. Paired with the earrings and that hair (pardon me, that “set“), she’s a dead ringer for a Golden Girls guest star who gets caught by Sophia trying to steal Blanche’s new man at a casino night.

Even without wearing a Gucci skirt covered in showgirl tinsel, Tyra Banks would still be shimmering the hardest on the red carpet, thanks to her eyes ability to sparkle on command through a smize. But it’s a good thing she went all-out, because Crazy Fashion Tyra is my favorite Tyra, and “assistant train conductor of the Extra Express” is one way to get there.

Finally, we have the sister duo Chloe x Halle, who are wearing zero sparkles, shimmer, or glitter, but deserve an honorable mention anyway. Because last night I started to get drowsy while watching the AMAs, and when I went to reach for a blanket I realized there wasn’t one close, and it bummed me out. Meanwhile, Chloe and Halle had the right idea by showing up in green toned Valentino gowns that could double as very expensive Snuggies. They look like the leaders of an As Seen On TV cult, and that’s a cult I would definitely join.

Here’s more of the rest of the red carpet arrivals at the AMAs last night, including what might be the most random look of the night: John Stamos in a Jonas Brothers t-shirt.
