Katy Perry Assures Us She Didn’t Shade “A Star Is Born”

These are dangerous times we live in. Of course I’m talking about our intensely divided and argumentative… social media scene. You never know what will happen each time you like a tweet. Will you go on with your day as though nothing is happening? Will you get incessant death threats and be forced to leave your home and family? Who knows! Katy Perry is feeling the second one today.

Entertainment Tonight Canada is reporting that Katy is doing a bit-o-damage control after she accidentally shaded Queen of ActingLady Gaga. It all started when the band Twenty One Pilots, spoofed the movie poster of  A Star Is Born in order to promote their new album, Trench. Check out the original:

And Twenty One Pilots’ version:

Katy Perry liked the tweet and the Twitterverse decided this innocuous action could only mean one thing: nefarious shade. Gaga’s Little Monsters were quick to descend on Katy Perry with their rage and intolerance like she just said she was going as Venom for Halloween:

Not everyone was excited to rage at Katy over this non-issue, some were there to defend her:

As for Katy herself, homegirl is not taking any chances. She knows what these Little Monsters are capable of. They ran Ed Sheeran off Twitter that time, and he’s just a kind Hobbit who lives in a field in Ireland! Katy posted the following to Instagram, assuring us that she still likes Gaga:

See? She called them “friends”, she’s friends with them, she’s not hating on Gaga. Please don’t come for Katy anymore. While she obviously sent this message out to social media in an attempt to stop the war that was going to be waged against her, she also mentioned that she’s taking a break from music while speaking with Footwear News about her shoe line Katy Perry Collections.

Luckily Venom won the box office so the Little Monsters are distracted, and Katy is making some good choices here. When you accidentally start a war with a group of over-emotional internet users it’s best to give a solid apology (Homegirl bought 7 tickets for this picture and probably didn’t even watch the movie) and then hide away from the aggression for as long as needed. Keep up that low-profile girl!
