Pete Davidson Mocked Kanye West For His Antics On “Saturday Night Live”

Kanye West went full-on contrary political rant baby on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live season premiere. After performing as a Perrier bottle, Kanye had a meltdown at the end of the show which continued through the end credits. In it, he bitched out the media for being anti-Trump, claimed SNL bullied him for wearing a MAGA hat on the show and announced again he was running for POTUS in 2020. Whatever happened to everyone embracing and waiting for the red light on the camera to click off so they could go blow rails at the afterparty? Ariana Grande’s current beau Pete Davidson is one of the more recognizable SNL cast members and he appeared on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment last night to put “YE” on jokey blast.

Pete, who recently told Howard Stern that he keeps from finishing when he’s with fiancee by imagining his father (who died in 9/11) dying in 9/11, noted that Kanye’s behavior was one of the “most awkward things I’ve ever seen here and I’ve seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern.” It turns out Pete’s funny! Did anyone else only see him as that douchey-seeming guy annoying us with the constant social media cascade of love tattoos, marriage proposals, that pig, sexual revelations, and just the whole “I’M DOING ARIANA GRANDE, EVERYONE!” bit?

Pete pointed himself out in a clip from last week, standing behind Kanye with his head down during the rant and then quickly leaving the stage “because I want a career.”

As for the MAGA hat… via TV Line

Davidson also disputed West’s charge that SNL staffers pressured him not to wear a pro-Trump hat. “Kanye was wearing a ‘MAGA hat,” Davidson noted. “And he started by saying people backstage tried to bully him into not wearing it. He wore it all week. Nobody told him not to wear it.”

Pete completed his Kanye counterpoint by acknowledging that he himself deals with mental illness (“I once bit my mother,” he revealed, “but it’s ok because I bought her a house.”) and opining that Kanye shouldn’t be using his mental illness as an excuse and should probably keep taking his meds.

Davidson conceded that West “is a genius — but a musical genius,” before urging him to seek out to go back on medication. “Take ’em. There’s no shame in the medicine game. I’m on them. Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass.”

Amen! One might feel that Pete’s being a little ungrateful towards Kanye. His girlfriend Ariana bowed out of her scheduled appearance as the SNL premiere’s musical guest due to needing some downtime for her own emotional issues and Kanye stepped in for her. Then again, Kanye’s probably been planning that Theatre of the Bullshit tirade for a while now and jumped at the chance to perform it.  And while Pete may have shook his head at Kanye’s mess, I’m sure Lorne Michaels and the other higher-ups at SNL were shaking their heads YES!!! at all the attention.
