Matt Lauer Will Give His Soon To Be Ex-Wife $20 Million

Poor Matt Lauer has had a rough few months. First he got fired from Today in November for being an alleged sexual harassing creep, and then he had to deal with his wife Annette Roque filing for divorce since you can’t flash your co-workers and gift them butt plugs without your wife getting a lil’ angry. The divorce got heated fast since everybody loves a payout, except for the one doing the paying. But according to Page Six, it looks like the fight is nearly over and Annette is packing a bag and taking it to the bank.

Sources say Matt will cut Annette a check for “up to” $20 million.

“Things really have settled down. Matt and Annette are getting on and they’re both spending time with their kids. They hope to settle the divorce very soon.”

They’ve been staying at their 12-bedroom Hamptons compound called, Strongheart Manor which is poorly named for a divorce party, but properly named for a Care Bear. The Manor is a lingering question in the divorce, since it’s Matt’s “dream home“.

“Matt’s bending over backwards to give Annette everything she wants because he feels so guilty. But he would love the Hamptons home.”

Okay Matt, we know that’s you. You should have just slid a letter under Annette’s door at Strongheart Manor saying: “This is Matt’s divorce lawyer, please let him keep his mansion.”

Annette can thank foresight for her divorce payment, since the two wrote up a “postnup” after Matt convinced her not to divorce him in 2006 when she learned he cheated on her. Wise woman. You need to get some kind of material insurance if your man is a serial cheater. Wives of Hollywood take notes! The source explains:

“Matt agreed to pay Annette a lump sum of millions back in 2006 as an incentive to stay with him to help him maintain his squeaky clean image as ‘America’s Dad.’ …She also got an allowance every year, plus it was agreed that she would get a share of the value of all their homes if they did split.”

In other words, Annette is killing it in the divorce settlement game. As for their properties…

Matt sold an Upper East Side apartment for more than $7.35 million, has another Sag Harbor home up for sale for $12.75 million and a New Zealand farm he purchased for $9.2 million. So Annette is going to get a thick ass slice of those pies also.

It’s believed that Matt and Annette are agreeing to share custody of their three kids, 17-year-old Jack, 14-year-old Romy, and 11-year-old Thijs. Matt has been working hard on the relationship he has with his kids post-divorce and sex-scandal, and his friends describe him as a “devoted dad”.

The source also says that Matt still feels resentment about his firing which makes me wonder if he really got that $30 million from Today after they let him go. The source tried to show off Matt’s high moral character by saying:

“Matt still maintains the relationships he had in the workplace were consensual. He does feel like the poster boy of the #MeToo movement when he sees other high powered men hanging on to their jobs despite allegations.”

I wish Annette all the best with her future money. I hope she and her millions of dollars are very happy together. I also hope she uses some of that money to take Ann Curry on a girls trip vacay. Let your hair down ladies and enjoy the sun! You’re finally free!
