Lindsay Lohan Is Sorry For Saying #MeToo Women Are Weak

Looks like Lindsay Lohan really is back y’all. And by “back” I don’t mean she was cast in any new movies or anything like that–nobody except MTV (who works with hot messes annually and is used to it) wants to work with her still–but she is back in the sense that she’s saying stupid shit she needs to apologize for. Which is honestly, like, 73% of what fame whores do anyway, right?

People reports that Lindsay has had to apologize for some comments she made in The Times about the #MeToo movement. She took time away from tanning on a Greek beach to say a bunch of stupid fucking garbage which you can read here if you want to. It’s your garden variety victim-blaming shtick but to sum it all up here’s a direct quote:

“I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.”

I don’t think Lindsay ended up hating herself for saying that, because it got her some attention, which she loves more than anything.

Lindsay scrambled to make an exclusive statement to People when she realized MTV might knock a zero off her checks, so she said this:

“I would like to unreservedly apologize for any hurt and distress caused by a quote in a recent interview with The Times… The quote solely related to my hope that a handful of false testimonies out of a tsunami of heroic voices do not serve to dilute the importance of the #MeToo movement, and all of us who champion it. However, I have since learned how statements like mine are seen as hurtful, which was never my intent. I’m sorry for any pain I may have caused… I feel very strongly about the #MeToo movement and have the utmost respect and admiration for the women brave enough to come forward and speak out about their experiences. Their testimony has served to protect those who can’t speak, and give strength to those who have struggled to have their voices heard.”

This is the same Lindsay Lohan who got up on a pedestal and defended Harvey Weinstein when his house of sexual assault cards came crumbling down, so color me Not At All Shocked.

Lindsay Lohan drooling out a nugget of dumb about #MeToo, and then drooling out a fake apology after getting backlash for it isn’t surprising either. But what’s really surprising is that she found a publicist who would write that statement for her for free since we all know she didn’t pay them. I guess even publicists do pro bono work every now and again. Or “pro bozo work” in this case.
