Pink’s Beautiful Trauma tour was scheduled to perform eight shows in Sydney at the beginning of August, but she’s had to cancel a few of them due to a gastric virus. The only problem is, those same ticket-holders have also been skeptical about Pink’s reason for bailing. Some think Pink has been playing hooky with her kids at the beach.
E! News reports that Pink canceled a show in Sydney yesterday, only a few hours before she was scheduled to be on stage. Live Nation let everyone know what was up by tweeting that Pink had been checked into the hospital on Sunday night for dehydration, and was readmitted with a gastric virus. Damn, Pink’s stomach just can’t catch a break this year.
Pink was scheduled to play another show in Sydney today, but her gastric virus forced her to cancel that show too. It’s the third Sydney show she’s had to pull out of. Originally, Pink’s first show in Sydney was supposed to happen on the 4th, but E! says she postponed the first show last week, blaming an upper respiratory infection.
Now here’s why those Australian fans are skeptical. Shortly after a sick Pink announced the cancelation of her show on the 4th, she was seen with her kids on the beach in Byron Bay. Pink addressed the situation on Instagram, saying she has never “fucked off” or phoned in a tour, and that their beach visit happened between multiple doctor’s visits.
I don’t need to clear this up, but out of respect for my fans I will attempt it. I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life. This break in Byron has been scheduled since 2017, as a way to get outside the hotel and the winter and have some time with my children. I’ve already been sick twice (kids as well)on this Australian tour, but the first time we got sick, I was able to push through. This time, what these parasite paparazzi don’t show you, is two doctor visits in Byron on two consecutive days, antibiotics, steroids, Vick’s, nose spray, throat spray, more steroids, NyQuil, a screaming baby in the middle of the night, every night, while mama gives him warm baths and tells her daughter everything is fine. You can think whatever you want, it’s your right, but I have never taken advantage of any one in my entire life. I have never fucked off while disrespecting hard working people who spend money to come see me play. I have never phoned in a single tour, I have an impeccable record for not cancelling. I mother with everything I have whilst handling all the rest. The snark in this is unbelievable and makes me long for a nicer world. I’m doing the absolute best I can, and you can believe it or not. What they don’t show you in this picture is me drinking water and lying down while my friends try to entertain my 7 year old who is asking me why these creepy men are surrounding us and pacing back and forth and taking pictures of her every move. I will see everyone tomorrow whether I’m better or not, and the postponed show will be rescheduled. As I said, I’m sorry to the real fans who this situation has affected. Onwards and upwards.
Pink has five more shows planned for Sydney: one on Thursday, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday, then two later in the month. It’s not known if she’ll be healthy enough to make it to those ones, as Pink’s shows involve acrobatic stunts that I can’t imagine would be easy to pull off when you’re fighting the urge to hurl. Or worse. Viral gastroenteritis is an intestinal infection that can cause nausea, vomiting, and – gag – watery diarrhea. Those fans should stop side-eyeing Pink for chilling on the beach. I really don’t think anyone wants a front-row seat to see what happens if a still sick Pink is suspended from the ceiling like this:
