Catherine Oxenberg’s Daughter Is Finally Free From NXIVM

A real-life Dynasty story arc came to be last year when Catherine Oxenberg (that’s Amanda Carrington #1 to us Dynasty tramps) began a public mission to free her 27-year-old daughter India Oxenberg from the cult NXIVM. It was the first time I had heard of NXIVM, and to me it sounded like the name of a non-FDA-approved knock-off of Nexium that can only be bought from the trunk a Toyota parked in a Tijuana alley way. If NXIVM was a medicine, side effects would include suddenly developing an ugly brand on your skin, getting shot nerves from Chloe from Smallville yelling at you, and ending up with a brainwashed brain.

Catherine actually got India into NXIVM after hearing it was some kind of self-help group. Catherine checked out of it because she found it creepy, but India stayed. Catherine didn’t think anything of India staying until she heard that India had been recruited into the harem of NXIVM’s founder Keith Raniere. India had gotten scary skinny and her hair was falling out. Catherine begged India to come home, but India didn’t and ended up going radio silent on her family. Since then, Catherine has been working to get India out, and on Megyn Kelly Today, she pretty much said that her daughter is out. Praise Bea (Arthur, who is the God of my religion)!

Keith Raniere and his henchwoman/recruiter Allison Mack (who played Chloe on Smallville) were arrested and charged with sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy. Allison is reportedly trying to cut a plea deal. Their trial is set for October, and if convicted, they will be sentenced to a minimum of 15 years in the chokey. Catherine wrote a book about the ordeal called Captive, and so she’s doing the interview rounds to promote it.

Catherine told Megyn that she’s thankful Keith got busted, because if he wasn’t, she’d probably have to run for her life since she got threats from NXIVM for publicly speaking out against them to save her daughter. Megyn brought up how there’s been a major development between Catherine and India. Megyn asked Catherine if India, who did indeed get branded, is out of NXVIM. Catherine said this:

“She’s given me permission to be her spokesperson at this moment, because she doesn’t want to be public, which I understand. She’s given me a script that I have to adhere to and I’m not allowed to deviate from it. So as protective as I was about saving her, I am as protective about her privacy. I’m not going to answer that question, because she hasn’t given me permission to say so. But what she did give me permission to say is that she’s moving on with her life, and I think that’s implicit in that statement.”

I’m sure that Catherine Oxenburg isn’t using her daughter’s involvement in a sex cult to get richer and is going to donate all the proceeds from the sale of her book into forming a squad of cult-busting bad bitches. As I type this, Alexis Carrington, Sable Colby, Sammy Jo, Fallon Carrington and Dominique Deveraux are slipping into gold lamé catsuits to take down cults everywhere. Shelly Miscavige, if you hear the clickity clack of heels from your cell, it’s not Tom Cruise. It’s Blake’s Angels coming to save you!
