Demi Lovato Has Reportedly Agreed To Go To Rehab

Demi Lovato has now spent ten days in the hospital following a suspected drug overdose. During that time, sources were saying that Demi’s family and team were pushing for her to exit the hospital and head straight to rehab, because of the overdose (duh), but also because she had apparently not been sober for quite a while. On Wednesday, TMZ reported that the rehab conversation had gotten an A&E’s Intervention-level of tense, and that many on her team were threatening to quit unless she agreed to check in for treatment.

It was starting to sound like maybe Demi was acting out the beginning lyrics of an Amy Winehouse song, and refusing to go. But sources tell TMZ that Demi has agreed to go to rehab.

Demi’s family was reportedly holding off on the rehab conversation for a bit out of respect for the complications Demi has allegedly been through during her hospital stay (like extreme nausea and a high fever). But once stuff started to calm down, they brought it up, and she agreed. TMZ says that Demi will leave the hospital and be taken straight to a live-in facility.

As for when that might be, another source says Demi will be out of the hospital “any day now.” It’s also not known where Demi will go for her rehab stay, whether it will be somewhere in California or out of state. It’s also not known for how long, but based on the circumstances (overdose + not being sober), sources say that it could be an extended stay.

It sounds like Demi’s alleged struggle with sobriety is probably reason enough for a rehab visit. A source tells People that her six-year sobriety was a “fight every single day” to maintain. The same source says that Demi has admitted that she can’t be in a party environment. Neither can I, Demi, neither can I, but for a totally different reason: I’m old. It seemed like almost overnight, the thought of going out at 11pm and partying until last-call made me cuddle up even closer to my Cheetos and TV remote at home.
