For those of us emotional masochists who have lasted every season of Real Housewives Of New York City, something has just seemed a little off with the recent batch. Sure, we have Bethenny Frankel back and hawking SkinnyGirl everything like in the wee days of the show, but there’s something wrong in the world when Ex-Countess LuAnn de Lesseps is trying to post bail and Tinsley Mortimer is trying to marry a coupon mogul (I think that’s what she’s trying to do). Anyway, Bethenny traded in Jill Zarin in later seasons for an alliance, er, friendship with Carole Radziwill, the widow of Jackie O’s nephew and close friend to Caroline Kennedy. Rather than namedrop her ties to Camelot, Carole spent most of her time on-air blabbing about how we should respect her as a journalist. I guess she’s decided to put her money where her mouth is because she’s quitting that bitch known as Bravo to return to the newsroom!
People says Carole dialed them up to say she’s saying “Boi, bai” to all those savage hens to pursue her journalistic endeavors.
“After six seasons on Bravo’s RHONY, I have decided to return to what I do best — journalism and producing.”
Some of us might scratch our heads given that she kinda portrays herself as a Christiane Amanpour of Downtown Manhattan despite mainly doing puff pieces for Glamour as of late. But she wrote that award-winning memoir about her husband and was previously an ABC News producer, so this is a bit of a return to her roots. She seemed grateful for her time on Bravo but also kinda hinted that she was grateful to leave the show (and presumably her ongoing tiff with Bethenny):
“I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind,” Radziwill wrote. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.”
Plus, working a war zone is probably a far more enjoyable experience than one more Berkshires weekend with Ramona Singer.
