Anthony Anderson Is Under Criminal Investigation For Assault

Black-ish star Anthony Anderson is being investigated by the LAPD Hollywood division for assault. I wish I could report that his only crime was assaulting our eyes with the adult onesie above, but unfortunately it’s for something far more sinister. The Blast says that the charges filed last week were by a woman who formerly worked with Anthony. Grab the closest kitten and start petting away, because it looks like we have the latest installment of fuckery to be logged into the #MeToo tome.

The woman who pressed charges is a caterer who Anthony hired to work a private event last year. They met up once more after his event to talk about future work, and that is when the bad shit apparently went down. Reported from The Blast:

Sources close to the situation tell us she felt comfortable enough to come forward months after the alleged incident occurred, due in part to the “#MeToo movement.”

LAPD has confirmed to the The Blast, “We have a crime report listing him as a suspect in a crime. It is an open investigation.”

The specific details regarding the alleged assault are currently unclear.

Anthony and his people had a fast response of course, which was to say how incredibly sorry he was for his actions and that he’s prepared to pay any price named to the victim for her pain and suffering. Just for jokes! Anthony’s reps had something to say all right, and it fits the mold of the old victim blame n’ shame that we’ve been used to seeing throughout the #MeToo movement.

“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false. The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”

Anthony’s reps may want to simmer down a bit, because this ain’t his first rodeo. Fourteen years ago, he was charged with an alleged rape (in a production trailer) of an extra on the Memphis set of Hustle & Flow. The Hollywood Reporter says that the charges were later dropped after the judge declared, “This is absolutely the most suspicious case I’ve ever heard.” That woman claimed that both Anthony and an assistant director on the film both raped her.

Anthony was just nominated for his fourth Emmy in the Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category last week for Black-ish. ABC has yet to say anything, because they’re probably brainstorming something more eloquent to release that “Fuck, shit, fuck, shit.”

There’s also no comment yet from his wife of over twenty years, Alvina Stewart. The couple recently filed, then recanted their divorce proceedings. So if this is the final metal (no more plastic) straw that breaks their marriage’s back, all I can say is GET THAT MONEY, Alvina!
