Ex-Countess LuAnn de Lesseps Is Back In Rehab
You can normally time a Real Housewives Of New York City dinner party or reunion by the moments when every Duane Reade in Manhattan is out of Xanax. It’s that time of the year when all those shrieking banshees jockey to sit closest to Andy Cohen on the reunion couch and pick apart the healed scab of friendship just to hash out arguments that were settled over a year ago. This season has been kind of a snooze with the exception of Ex-Countless LuAnn de Lesseps really doing the franchise a favor by terrorizing the South Florida police AND dipping her toes in the cabaret singing circuit. Alas, because she’s focusing on her well-being (and avoiding questions about her own children are suing her ass), she checked herself into rehab again and will not be at the reunion.
People reports Lu checked herself back into rehab, and Bravo confirmed she won’t be filming the tenth season reunion, which means the most action we’re going to get is Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwell half-assed arguing about charities and dating kindergarteners (or however old Carole’s ex-boyfriend is) and Dorinda Medley pulling the obligatory hop-off-the-couch and point fingers in a broad’s face in order for producers to have a cliffhanger between the first and second episodes. Speaking of Bethenny, she has somehow gone from the one Lu hated to the official ex-countess spokesperson because she was the only one authorized to speak on the situation:
“This weekend, Luann was surrounded by her girlfriends and decided — with their support — that in light of recent circumstances, it is the healthiest choice for her not to attend Tuesday’s reunion taping so that she can continue in her healing process. Luann is now surrounded by a core group of people who truly have her best interests at heart and who are working to make sure she gets the help she needs.”
Bravo! That’s the longest she has gone without giving some sort of SkinnyGirl plug, but that likely wouldn’t seem a tad déclassé with the countess to plug booze in a rehab statement. Bethenny alluded to “recent additional family stress” as to what may have been a driver behind the move to go to rehab. Lu’s ex-husband and two kids are filing suit against her because she allegedly didn’t set up a trust for their kids (Noel and Victoria) tied to the $8 million sale of her Sag Harbor house.
Bethenny claims Bravo is being supportive, and that means getting behind how LuAnn is only interested in looking to the future, which appears to mean dating her kinda-still-married manager, more cabaret shows and probably another solo sit-down with Andy. Speaking of, I’m sure Bravo was very supporting about LuAnn going to rehab, as long as the rehab facility had a built-in studio with lighting that’d really give Andy’s mug a glow during his interview with her.
