Gisele Bundchen Is Sorry For Saying She’s Too Old And Wise For Instagram Modeling

Yesterday Vogue published an interview with Gisele Bundchen about modeling and whatnot, and she talked about the current generation of Instagram models. Gisele pissed off the Instagram modeling community more than the words “I’m sorry, but you’re no longer sponsored by hair gummies” ever could. Now she’s apologizing.

Gisele talked to Vogue to promote, a sort-of memoir titled Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. It would appear she’s taking the author thing seriously, and she doesn’t really want to be known as Gisele the Glamorous Supermodel. Or any model at all, really.

“I’m not a model. Modeling is a job that I do, a career that I’ve had. It allowed me to see the world, and I was well paid for it. But it never defined me.”

Also, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that she’s written a book on living a meaningful life, because even when she was modeling, she’s always been Gisele the Deep Thinker.

“I was watching all the chaos but never getting that close. Drugs. Girls coming and going, some making it, some heading down a bad path and going home. I was never a party girl. You can’t be reading Lao Tzu and partying. The environment I was living in wasn’t matching the things I was interested in. I was wondering, How is it that we’re all floating on this blue dot in space? I’ve always been a curious person, and I’ve always asked the big questions.”

Then Gisele was asked about social media. Gisele isn’t really a fan (really? Could have fooled me). She says her sister started an Instagram account for her because she owes her fans the odd selfie. But if Gisele had the choice, she wouldn’t do it. And if Gisele was just starting out in modeling, she wouldn’t be known as anything besides “Who?“, because she just couldn’t do the whole Instagram model thing.

“It’s not my generation – I have to be honest about that. I’m older, wiser. If I had to promote myself in the way girls modeling now have to do, forget it. I wouldn’t do it.”

Gisele’s comments implying she’s too old and smart to pimp her life out on Instagram were taken as fighting words by IG models. And how dare she! Instagram models work very hard. Do you understand how difficult it is to Facetune a sponsored content selfie that was taken after your ring light died? Gisele quickly tweeted the following apology:

The apology wasn’t totally necessary, but it was smart of her to apologize to swiftly. I’m sure the last thing Gisele would want is to come home one day and find a menacing letter written in Kylie Cosmetics lip liner, stabbed into her door with a Botox needle, as what appears to be Kris Jenner runs into the bushes.
