Sophia Bush Really Didn’t Want To Marry Chad Michael Murray

E! News says that Sophia Bush sat down with Andy Cohen for his Sirius XM show, and she talked about her short-lived marriage to Chad Michael Murray. Sophia compared her marriage to that time you got drunk in college and sympathy-fucked your classmate:
“Everybody’s been 22 and stupid… It was not a thing I actually really wanted to do.”
The two met on One Tree Hill. They married in 2005 and broke up five-months later after he allegedly gifted heiress Paris Hilton his dick while working with her on a movie. In 2006, the state of California officially divorced the two and they finally stopped having awkward run-ins at work three years later after Chad left the show because he was delusional enough to think he was too famous, or because the show-runners hated him-depends who you ask.
Andy asked Sophia why she went through with the wedding, and she said because her bosses (no word if one of those bosses was the one who allegedly groped her) told her jobs were at risk!
“Because how do you let everybody down… And how do you- what’s the fight and when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time.”
After the story started making the rounds, Sophia went on Twitter to tell the tabloids to not be so dramatic:
When you’re taking the piss out of yourself – b/c people can’t let the past go & you really wish they would – & gossip rags try to turn it into inappropriate drama rather than self-deprication. Don’t twist people’s words, y’all. If it wasn’t clear, I was making fun of MYSELF.

Even though there have always been rumors of Chad being a flaming anal fissure, with Instagram icon Busy Philipps (who worked with Chad on Dawson’s Creek) even once calling him a ‘douche‘; Mr. Michael Murray did not take kindly to Sophia’s recollection of their marital arrangement, giving People this overly defensive statement:
“Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. … Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children. … He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behavior.”
Honestly, being a huge One Tree Hill fan I’m absolutely broken by this. Each week I waited with excitement and anticipation for Chad to give me a poorly-acted monologue no 17-year-old American douche would ever have the emotional intelligence to come up with on his own. When he and Sophia got married–when the real life Lucas and Brooke decided to tie the knot–I was excited. To learn that a Hollywood marriage that was probably set up for the sake of the show wasn’t true love? It takes a toll!!!! True love does not exist.
