Because Of Struggling Ratings, NBC May Move Megyn Kelly’s Show
Fans of the fourth hour of the Today show might no longer have to until 10:00am to get secondhand blitzed on morning wine. According to Page Six, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb might move up an hour to the 9:00 time slot. But wait, isn’t that Megyn Kelly’s spot? Yeah, possibly not any more.
According to sources at NBC, higher ups are thinking of bumping Megyn Kelly Today to the final hour of Today. NBC wants to make the switch to prevent any more ratings damage to Kathie Lee and Hoda’s show. The fourth hour used to do really good when it followed Tamron Hall and Al Roker. After they were replaced by Megyn Kelly at 9:00am, the ratings for Kathie Lee and Hoda started slipping. Megyn’s show was down 32% compared to Tamron and Al, and Kathie Lee and Hoda dropped 26%. Page Six says their ratings dive was solely because some people didn’t tune back in after turning Megyn’s show off.
Apparently NBC is hoping that by moving Kathie Lee and Hoda to 9, they’ll pick up some of those viewers that left. It sort of makes sense that they’d at least stick around; the first two hours of Today are hosted by Hoda and Savannah Guthrie, and their ratings are really good.
Of course, one source says that this is all just mean rumors to make Megyn Kelly look bad, adding that Megyn’s ratings are rising.
Poor Megyn Kelly, off in the desert of the fourth hour, all alone, practically hearing the sounds of people changing the channel. Actually, I think I just thought of a good slogan to keep those viewers around. “Megyn Kelly Today: for when you want to put something on to keep your dog company, but he gets too anxious by the shouting on Maury.”
