Hot Slut Of The Day!

Elektra (as played by Dominique Jackson) from Pose!

Ryan Murphy’s 3,940,599th show Pose death-dropped onto FX last night, and it earned a spot in my already “stuffed like a power bottom getting DP’d by two Jon Hamms” DVR for the sole fact that Klymaxx’s Meeting In The Ladies Room played during one of the scenes. (All it takes for me to be into a show is for the show to use Meeting In The Ladies Room. Wolf Blitzer hurts my bowels, but if he changed the name of his show to Meeting In The Situation Room, it’d be my favorite show.)

In case you don’t know, Pose is all about the NYC ball scene in the 1980s, and stars various versions of the goddesses from Paris Is Burning. Pose has made HERstory by having the biggest trans cast of all-time. Many of the main characters are black trans women, and then there’s Evan Peters as a creepy married WASP with serial killer eyes who definitely checks out books on how to skin a human alive at the library. There’s also James Van Der Beek as a Big Lots Patrick Bateman.

One of my favorite moments on last night’s premiere was the subtle tribute to Pretty Woman’s Snobby Saleswoman #2. Angel, the hooker who is falling for Evan Peters’ creepy ass (FOR WHY?), goes to a fancy department store to apply for a job she read about in the paper. The Snobby Saleswoman behind the counter looks her up and down and basically tells her that she’s not good enough to work there. Now, I don’t want Angel to end up with creepy Evan Peters, but if it means him becoming a mogul and buying that department store just so she can throw a “Big mistake, HUGE!” at that Snobby Saleswoman before firing thd bitch, I’m all for it.

But my favorite part of last night’s premiere was the glamour-dipped queen jewel Elektra Abundance!

Elektra, is the mother of the House of Abundance, who rules the ballroom scene with her children. Elektra is like a knock-off The Lady Chablis (The Lady Riesling?) with a touch of Crystal LaBeija doing an impersonation of Dominique Deveraux from Dynasty. In other words, she’s power bitch glamour at its finest and can bring a petulant child to their knees with a glare. Dominique Jackson plays Elektra and her acting is very, “Category is: villainess in an amateur children’s theater production,” and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of Elektra’s children Blanca (played by MJ Rodriguez) leaves the House of Abundance to start her own House, so Elektra’s goal, next to turning mortals to dust with her devastating glamour, is to knock Blanca’s House off of its foundation. Shouldn’t be hard, since this pose alone could take out an entire tract development.

At the beginning of Pose’s first episode, Elektra and her children go to a museum right before it closes. They hide, and when the museum shuts down, they come out and steal a bunch of lavish ensembles from medieval times to wear to a ball (see: above). That scene is pretty far-fetched, but if this season ends with Blanca’s house taking down Elektra’s house, then that will be the most ridiculous thing to happen on Pose and the whole show should be labeled as fantasy. Because nobody takes down Elektra!
