Bravo Plans To Air “Real Housewives Of The 1960s” In The Fall

Bravo recently announced its upcoming slate of reality TV programming and it includes a fun twist on a classic. Bravo intends to Make Real Housewives Great Again (MRHWGA?) by sending The Real Housewives back in time. According to The Wrap, Real Housewives of The 1960s is slated for the fall. Bravo has proven itself able to deftly engage with our current cultural and socio-economic climate, so why not the 60s? What could go wrong?!

According to The Wrap:

In this imaginative docu-series, a cast of modern women will be sent back to the 1960s to experience the ultimate era of the American Housewife. Living in a cul-de-sac of authentic Sixties homes, these women and their families will be transported back into a traditional decade where men made the money, women made the home, and teenagers actually did as they were told. In living through the ‘golden age’ of Sixties family life, the cast will discover if more time spent together, traditional husband and wife roles, and no digital distractions might actually improve their chaotic lives and even fix their relationships.

Ah, the 1960s! What a time to be a housewife, amiright? Marital rape was still legal, women’s liberation was an out of reach fantasy and Twitter only gave you 5 characters which you had to write down on a piece of paper and mail to the internet. Bravo is really sniffing glue if they think women are dying to get back to the good old days.

I also wonder if they going to have a separate show for all the women who didn’t get kick up their feet and eat bonbons during the 60s? Are they also going to have Real Housemaids of the 1960s? Or Real 3 Job Having Moms Who Are Trying To Send Their Second Generation Kids To College Of The 1960s? Or how about Real Obedient Teenagers Who Got Drafted And Died In A Foreign War Of The 1960s? But heck, the clothes were really cute (if you had the figure for them) so why not go for it! Let those housewives realize why one of the first acts of the ERA was to burn their enormous brassieres.
