Amal Clooney Pissed Off Tom Ford (And Vogue!) At The Met Gala

The Vogue interns got a brief moment of mercy this year when they found out Anna Wintour wouldn’t be sending them through the wood chipper for seating her next to Pimp Mama Kris. Instead, it’s the 2018 Met Gala co-chair, Amal Clooney, who is making everyone at the Haus of Winter and Tom Ford angrily eat carbs because she didn’t wear a Tom Ford dress on the Met Gala red carpet like they thought she would.

Page Six says Amal had worked with Tom’s team, and they were under the impression she would rock one of their frocks on the Met Gala red carpet. They spent weeks hunched over the sewing machine and Bedazzler to make some red dress that was supposed to look like stained glass. Amal ended up ditching the Tom Ford outfit as a red carpet lewk at the last minute and wore a backup outfit by Richard Quinn…the bustier and pants number that we all saw. Hey, at least she intended to look like the theme! A source gave the run-down of what Tom’s peeps felt about the swap:

“They were annoyed, obviously, but they were gracious, and said it was fine to go with [another designer], but they would prefer that Amal not wear the dress at all if she wasn’t going to wear it on the Met Ball red carpet.”

The Vogue mafia was also a little pissed, and Tom’s crew figured that if Amal didn’t rock the dress on the red carpet, they could give it to another celeb to wear to another event. Well, Amal insisted on changing into the Tom Ford look in the Met Gala gift shop and wore it inside the party.

Vogue was a little miffed because they had ironed out a deal with Tom and were especially pissed since Amal was the May cover girl. Everyone has their panties in a bunch, but I bet Amal was just living up to a greater deal! Madonna most certainly would have told Vogue that if there weren’t at least five nuns to surf on and four human stained glass windows in the Met that night, she would not singLike A Prayer.” Amal was just living up to her end of the bargain!
