Tonya Harding Lives To See Another Week On “Dancing With The Stars”
The 26th season of Dancing with the Stars started last night, and as we already knew, the cast is filled with athletes. Tonya Harding made her DWTS debut last night, and she just barely escaped from the shameful title of “First eliminated.”
While looking like an aunt who got a bit too much sun the day before her second wedding, Tonya and her partner Sasha Farber did a foxtrot to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston’s “When You Believe,” because I guess ABC couldn’t get the rights to “I Beat That Bitch (With A Bat).”
Tonya is a former figure skater after all, so she has at least some rhythm and timing, but she has been out of the game for a while. Still, she scored a surprising 23 out of 30. It must have been her lucky charm in the audience, Allison Janney. Yes, Oscar-winner Allison Janney made an appearance on DWTS.
Last night was a double-elimination, because this season is only four-weeks long. Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson and former MLB outfielder Johnny Damon got cut.
And the top toot of the week goes to the contestant that you know is going to win, Adam Rippon. Adam and his partner Jenna Johnson tied for first place (24 out of 30) with NFL cornerback Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess. But Adam placed number one in my heart by dancing a cha-cha-cha to RuPaul’s “Sissy That Walk.”
The only thing missing was Adore Delano, Courtney Act, Bianca Del Rio, and Darienne Lake stomping it out on treadmills behind them. Well, that and the lyric: “My pussy is on fire, now kiss the flame.” But I’m going to take a stab in the dark and guess that they probably cut that part to prevent any grannies watching at home from getting into the groove and breaking a hip while attempting to sissy that walker around the living room.
