Kanye West Tweeted The Texts John Legend Sent Him About Trump
As we all watch Kanye West’s recent political enlightenment/MAGA meltdown (whichever theory you believe), it seems as though there is no one close to him who is telling him the truth. You definitely can’t count on anyone in the sunken palace: Kim Kardashian is off making perfume bottles of her body, and Kris Jenner is too busy loving the attention. At least Kanye still has friends who are trying to get through to him. John Legend stepped up and tried to get through to Kanye on both on Twitter and via text.
After Kanye started tweeting his love for Trump, many people came to his defense, like his wife, and Chance the Rapper who reminded everyone that Kanye doesn’t have to be a Democrat.
Black people don’t have to be democrats.

But of course not. John Legend then said that there’s a difference between identifying as a Republican, and someone who defended Nazis. One of the dumbass things Kanye has said on Twitter is that slavery is just a “mentality,” and “self-victimization is a disease.” John disagrees.
Far too many people don't have the luxury of closing their eyes and ears. They feel it in their lives and can't act like what they see and know doesn't exist.

They see the statistics about black applications for real estate or loans or employment being turned away because their name was Jamal and not James

The defining trait of Trump's campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone's thoughts though

He also texted Kanye, who promptly screen-grabbed their conversation and put it on Twitter:

But John’s work didn’t un-MAGA Kanye’s mind:
I really appreciate this dialogue with John Legend because I'm actually very empathetic. Im still the kid from the telethon. I feel when people think of MAGA they don't think of empathy.

Wait a minute…maybe the answer is right in front of us all along. “Still the kid from the telethon” might be a clue. John Legend, if you still want to save Kanye, you’ve got to get Mike Myers and a rugby shirt, and get to Kanye’s house immediately. Just tell him you’re there to deliver more hats or something.
