Leonardo DiCaprio And Brad Pitt Are The Most Dynamic Duo Since Paul Newman and Robert Redford, According To Quentin Tarantino
That’s a Photoshopped picture of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio’s faces on the wax figures of film legends Robert Redford and Paul Newman (as their characters from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). But if Quentin Tarantino’s instincts prove to be correct, then Madame Tussauds better get ready to retire Bobby and Paul and start working on carving a new legendary duo out of wax. But maybe they can keep that sassy pose for Leo?
Vulture says that Quentin and Leonardo showed up at CinemaCon in Los Angeles yesterday to promote QT’s Manson family-ish movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Quentin cast Leonardo as western actor Rick Dalton, and cast Brad as Rick’s stuntman Cliff Booth. OUATIH appears to be based around Rick and Cliff’s relationship. Quentin gave some more details about the movie, and he’s clearly very excited about putting Brad and Leo together.
Tarantino compared the movie’s star power to another classic cinema pairing: “the most exciting, dynamic star duo since Paul Newman and Robert Redford.”
Leonardo added that it was difficult to talk about a movie that hasn’t been made yet, but that he was excited to work with Quentin again. He also called OUATIH the best script he’s read in years. Quentin said that shooting begins this summer.
Comparing Brad and Leo to Robert Redford and Paul Newman isn’t totally crazy. Brad has been doing Robert Redford cosplay for a while now. Leo as Paul Newman makes a little less sense, but I can see it. Wasn’t it Leo who once said, “Why stay home with steak when you’ve got this month’s veal on a private jet?” And I can’t wait to try Leo’s Own vape juices, with all profits going to a charity that gives deserving models a free trip on Leo’s yacht.
